Sara Lane came up to report on the New Family Welcome (NFW) events. Most of the events are complete but there will be one more in January for any families joining ACS mid-‐year. She would love any feedback on ways to make the events be8er next year. Please share any buddy family feedback, whether good or not so good, with Sara as well. If you would like a buddy family, please contact her as there are sHll some families looking for pairings. Maureen Berry came up next to speak about the Used Book sales. There are 5 each school year with all books going for AED 5 each. This is a great money maker for the PTA with usually about 1,000 books sold. October 14th will be the first book sale. Due to the storage of the books being moved, the first sale will be held in the cafeteria on a trial basis.

Tonya Dickenson spoke about the Costume Central. It will be held earlier this year so that parents have the opHon of ordering costumes if they do not find one here. Costumes will be sold for AED 10 – 50 and there will also be trick or treat bags sold for AED 10 each. All sales will be cash only! Any costumes not sold are given to the KG1 and KG2 classrooms.
14
All donaHons can be dropped off with Lone in the Elementary School office. Any volunteers to clean the donated costumes are appreciated.

Maureen walked through the budget as shown above. Currently the accounts are in the red as New Family Events do not bring any money into the PTA. The PTA also provides money for gig cards for the Reading Fair. This is normal for the beginning of the year. Once Fall FesHval Hcket sales begin, the budget will be back in the black. The Gala is sHll shown for historical purposes but is no longer under the PTA. When it was moved from the PTA, the agreement was that the Gala will give the PTA AED 25,000 or 10% of proceeds, whichever is higher.

The 3 superintendent candidates are coming in for their presentaHons. Candidate 1 has already presented. Candidate 2 will present on September 14th and Candidate 3 on September 18. Everyone is highly encouraged to come or watch the video on the YouTube channel. Please also fill out the survey. The Board does look at the surveys. Audience QuesHon: When will the superintendent start? (A) Candidates 1 and 2 will be able to start in the 2018 school year, but candidate 3 would not be able to start unHl 2019 school year. ACS has had good success with an interim superintendent before and this why they are considering candidate 3. September 26th at 6:30 pm will be the first open Board meeHng. The minutes can be found on their website. The Board retreat will be held on October 2nd and 3rd. This is when the board will develop its goals for the year. These goals will be posted for the ACS community to see. The recent tuiHon increase was not approved lightly. ACS has not increased since new fees and uHlity increases have been effected. Only 24 schools were allowed increases this year and ACS in not currently planning to seek an increase next year.
