AOI Positioning vs Advanced Motion with EtherNet/IP
COMPARISON GUIDE
www.MEAU.com
AOI Positioning with EtherNet/IPCreate your positioning application within the Rockwell Automation RSLogix 5000 programming environment while enjoying the quality and performance of the Mitsubishi Electric MR-J3 and MR-J4* servo platforms. This system is ideal for applications where an end-user specification requires a ControlLogix or CompactLogix PLC and up to 8 axes of servo control.
KEY FEATURES ■ Add-On Instructions (AOI) replace built-in motion commands in the ControlLogix or CompactLogix
■ EtherNet/IP slave interface built into the motion controller with no adapters required
■ Positioning and Velocity Control, Jogging, Homing, and Gearing
■ Up to 8 axes (up to 4 if gearing is used) ■ Compatible with MR-J3 and MR-J4* servos ■ No dongle, adapter, or converter required
Advanced Motion with EtherNet/IP Harness the power and reliability of the Mitsubishi Electric iQ Motion Platform for your most demanding motion control applications. Now you can share motion control data with your PLC via the built-in EtherNet/IP port on the Q170MCPU-EIP motion controller.
KEY FEATURES ■ Combine the full capabilities of iQ Motion with built-in EtherNet/IP slave interface
■ Camming, Gearing, Encoder Following, Registration, Jogging, Homing, and more
■ Customizable Communications – send whatever data you need between the PLC and Motion Controller
■ Does not use Add-on Instructions in the PLC ■ Works with iQ Motion Application Framework for fast and easy program development
■ Up to 16 axes ■ Compatible with MR-J3 and MR-J4* servos ■ No dongle, adapter, or converter required
Which EtherNet/IP system is right for your application? This comparison guide highlights the major features and functionality differences between the AOI Positioning with EtherNet/IP and Advanced Motion with EtherNet/IP systems.
What is an AOI?The Rockwell Automation RSLogix 5000 software allows users to create and share reusable code in function blocks called Add-On Instructions (AOI). Mitsubishi Electric has created an AOI library that provides a set of motion instructions that improve on the functions included in RSLogix 5000. By using these instructions, you can quickly and easily upgrade to a Mitsubishi Electric servo system to control MR-J3 and MR-J4* servos via EtherNet/IP.
