Identify an organization from any member in your Learning Team or an organization with which your team is familiar. If an actual company is used, disguise its name with a pseudonym.

· Alternatively, create a fictitious organization based on the dataset provided under Resources -Data Sets.

Identify one independent variable and one dependent variable based on the business. Operationalize these variables if they are too abstract to measure.

Develop a real or realistic scenario for the introduction based on the company you chose and the two variables. Include a background, a business problem and the team's role of no more than 350 words.

Develop a research question from the two variables.

· Use the Research Question Two Variable Handout for guidance.

Create hypothesis statements based on the research question.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Using the scenario and two variables your learning team developed for the Week 2 Business Research Project Part 1 assignment, create a paper of no more than 700 words in which the goal

(c) Sampling element which may be conducted through any of the following:

· Systematic, or

· Cluster

Calculate the sample size using a 95% confidence level, and a 5% margin of error. Place the calculation in the Appendix.

Discuss how validity (and reliability) will be achieved.

Explain how human subjects will be protected (if applicable).

Data collection

Explain how the data will be physically collected.

Explain where data will be stored and how it will be protected.



Append the Week 2 Business Research Project Part 1 paper with the following:

Each team member should:

· Find three articles relevant to your research problem with a minimum of one being peer-reviewed. Sources of non-peer reviewed articles may be trade journals or other sources recommended by your instructor.

· Provide a brief summary of each article by selecting relevant research that addresses the variables in the research question(s) of the article.

· Use an in-text citation and reference for each article.

Then, using the team members' article summaries as a resource, the team should:

· Revise the research question developed in the Business Research Project Part 1.

The research plan should be no more than 700 words in length.



Note: Upon receiving instructor feedback, revise your Week 2 Business Research Project Part 1.

Create a Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet with the two variables from your learning team's dataset.

Analyze the data with MegaStat®, StatCrunch®, Microsoft® Excel®or other statistical tool(s), including:

(a) Descriptive stats for each numeric variable

(b) Histogram for each numeric variable

(c) Bar chart for each attribute (non numeric) variable

(d) Scatter plot if the data contains two numeric variables

Determine the appropriate descriptive statistics.

(a) For normally distributed data use the mean and standard deviation.

(b) For significantly skewed data use the median and interquartile range.

Use the Individual Methodology Findings Template to complete the descriptive statistics.

Use the Descriptive Statistics and Interpretation Example to develop an interpretation of the descriptive statistics.


Submit both the spreadsheet and the completed Individual Methodology Findings Template.



Collect the team members' Week 3 individual Sampling and Data Collection Plan papers.

Review each team member's sampling and data collection plan, incorporating the best elements into one team sampling and data collection plan that is no more than 700 words.

· Note the strengths and weaknesses

· Where there are differences, collaborate with your team to find the best approach.




Using the research question and two variables your learning team developed for the Week 2 Business Research Project Part 1 assignment, create a no more than 350-word inferential statistics (hypothesis test). Include:

(a) The research question

(b) Mock data for the independent and dependent variables

Determine the appropriate statistical tool to test the hypothesis based on the research question.

Review each team member's descriptive statistics and interpretation assignment, incorporating the best elements into one team data analysis paper and spreadsheet.




Submit both the spreadsheet and completed Individual Methodology Findings Template.



Revise the Business Research Project Part 4 based on instructor feedback.

Collect the team members' Week 5 individual Inferential Statistics and Findings assignments (papers and spreadsheets).

Review each team member's inferential statistics and findings, incorporating the best elements into one team inferential statistics and findings paper and spreadsheet.



Complete the cumulative Business Research Report by combining Parts 1-5 into a paper that is no more than 2,450 words by collaborating with your team to include the following:

· Revised tables or figures based on prior instructor feedback

· Description or interpretation of the tables or figures

· Summary of the results of testing the null hypothesis, with a clear statement whether or not the null hypothesis was rejected

· Answers to teh research questions

· Conclusions that were derived from this study

o An inconclusive result is acceptable for this project. Should that be the case, suggest potential future research efforts anda new research questions that might provide more definitive results.

· Recommendations based on the results

· Observations (reflection) on the business problem and its solution

· Research challenges your team experienced in this study

· Steps to minimize challenges in future research

· Suggested future research based on your research results, challenges, and implications

Format your Business Research Report consistent with APA guidelines.

Develop a Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation of no more than 15 slides that includes the following elements:

· Overall picture of the research process

· Summary of the research results including specific answers to the research question

· Summary of the challenges, implications, and recommendations

Submit the Business Research Report, Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet, and Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation.
