PRINCIPAL’S FOREWORD
2012 has been a significant year for the school as our staff, students and key stakeholders were involved in the MOE External Validation (EV) in March. At this validation, the school was accorded the Best Practice Award for Staff Well-Being. We were also re-certified for the Singapore Quality Class and People Developer awards by SPRING Singapore. We thank all our stakeholders for their dedicated service and cooperation during the past years and in EV 2012.
The school strongly believes in holistic education. The varied student development programmes in the school strengthen our students in their character and inculcate in them important life skills and values. As we continued to achieve academic value-added performance in the GCE O Level Examinations, we also accomplished several notable achievements in the Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) in 2012. QSS performed very well in the various Zonal and National Inter-School Sports Championships, particularly in Football, Sepak Takraw and Volleyball. Both the Football B and C Division Girls were National Runners-up. The C Division Sepak Takraw Team was National 4th and Zonal Champions. Besides, the C Division Girls Volleyball Team, B Division Sepak Takraw and Football Team were top 4 in the Zonal Championships. QSS also attained Gold Award in Malay Dance; Silver in Indian Dance and Choir; and Bronze in Chinese Dance, Drama and Band in the previous Singapore Youth Festival Competitions.
QSS was outstanding in the Uniformed Groups Overall Unit Proficiency Competitions. We attained Gold Award in NPCC, NCC Land, NCC (Girls) and Guide Guides and Silver Award in Boys’ Brigade and St John Ambulance Brigade. The NPCC also garnered a Special Award for achieving the Gold Award in 5 consecutive years. All these achievements and awards affirmed the effectiveness of our education processes in providing a well-balanced and holistic education for our students in both the academic and non-academic areas. It is a well-deserved recognition of our hard work in providing an excellent education to all Queenswayans.
2012 also saw Ms Lok Yin Yin joining the school’s leadership team. The year was also special for Queenswayan Ng Shin Mun (Class of 2009) as she was awarded the prestigious Public Service Commission Overseas Merit Scholarship to pursue her studies in King’s College in London.
This QSS Annual seeks to etch fond memories of the past year and captures the passion, vitality and spirit of our school. It shows a glimpse of the vibrant QSS culture and reflects the Queenswayans’ aspirations, challenges and triumphs. For all that transpired and celebrated in 2012, we feel a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation to all our stakeholders, partners, parents, teachers and students. We salute you for your dedication and earnest support to make these achievements possible.
Thank you very much.

ACHIEVEMENTS & ROLL OF HONOUR
Success Through Diligence
GROOMING OF STUDENT LEADERS
DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP QUALITIES OF ALL QUEENSWAYANSThe school ensures all students exhibit school values. They are given leadership opportunities and training through the following approach: CCE lessons, peer tutoring and NYAA:• CCE lessons: All students will undergo life skills and character
development modules that include Lickona’s 8 Strengths of Character, where students learn to be caring and responsible citizens.
• The Peer Tutoring Programme is a platform where students who are competent in their subjects tutor their peers, and students from neighbouring primary schools.
PREFECTORIAL BOARDSec 1 students who show leadership potential are selected at the end of Term 3 based on recommendations from form teachers. Successful candidates embark on as trainee prefects for a month, where they are paired with senior prefects who guide them along in daily school functions. These potential prefects undergo a selection interview, after which newly appointed prefects undergo an Induction Workshop, before they are finally confirmed as prefects by the end of Term 1 the following year.
CCA LEADERS & FACILITATORSCCA leaders are selected in Sec 2 by the CCA teacher in-charge. They assist and complement CCA teachers in their respective CCAs. Besides this, two Sec 2 members from each CCA are nominated as CCA facilitators. Their role is to facilitate school or cluster events such as the annual Sports Meet, Cross Country Meet and National Day celebrations.
• NYAA: To develop confident, life-long learners, students go through a series of modules that require physical, mental and social skills, as part of NYAA (Bronze), which can be attained at the end of Sec 2. The progression to NYAA (Silver) is made compulsory to Sec 3 UG members who need to fulfil set criteria to achieve the award at the end of the year.
To ensure that defined skills are developed, student leaders are developed as ‘servant leaders’ who uphold the motto, ‘To Lead is to Serve’. All Sec 2 student leaders comprising trainee prefects, CCA leaders and class committee members attended a fundamental leadership training workshop on 24 February. They are groomed as QSS student leaders who personify school values and are positive role-models to their peers. Further, NE student ambassadors received additional training that was specific to their roles and responsibilities.

CLASS COMMITTEE MEMBERSClass committee members are nominated by their form and co-form teachers, as well as their classmates at the start of the year. They attend a leadership training course on how to positively motivate and influence their peers. To allow the opportunity for more students to assume leadership positions, other students in class can be nominated to take over certain class committee positions at the start of Term 3. They are then guided by the previous class committee members on their specific roles and responsibilities.
HOUSE CAPTAINSHouse captains are nominated by the students of the respective houses through a house election at the start of the year. They are role models of their respective houses and are responsible for promoting the team spirit of their respective houses in events such as the Sports Meet, Cross Country Meet and Inter-House Games.

ENVIRO-SCIENCE PROGRAMME
English Ingenium Programme
NATIONAL EDUCATION STUDENT AMBASSADORS (NESA)
This programme is a 2-year programme with the objective of equipping pupils with the necessary skills to keep up with the latest Scientific Technology, Environmental Issues as well as the implications of experimentation.
There are 3 modules altogether – Life Science, Applied Science and Ethics. The technical knowledge acquired through Life Science will enable pupils to deal with issues related to environmental conservation and biodiversity. In the Applied Science Module, pupils are introduced to a series of experiments in an inquiry-based learning approach using dataloggers to verify a hypothesis. The Ethics Module trains our pupils to think critically with regards to issues that they may be confronted with in their daily life.
Throughout the 3 modules, skills learnt and knowledge gained through discussions will help to take our students one step closer to being our Queens Graduate – a caring and responsible citizen to our environment.
The English Ingenium Programme is a talent development programme where students are groomed to be confident speakers and fluent writers with a flair for the English Language. Students are given opportunities to address the school during morning assembly on Wednesdays and Fridays. Some were also selected to become emcees for school events such as Speech Day and National Day. To develop all Ingenium students to become confident speakers, they attended language-related workshops.
The highlight for this year was the UK Immersion trip where a group of 32 Secondary Two and Three students visited different places in England to learn about the English Language and culture.
In addition, the Secondary One and Two Ingenium students attended an Oral Communication Skills workshop. It is hoped that these programmes will stretch their potential and propel them towards academic excellence.
Our NE Ambassadors are empowered to be passionate about National Education and are responsible for inculcating NE values to their peers. This year, we have re-structured the NESA development programme to include the Secondary One students. These students were selected based on their indication of interest to be a NESA at the start of the year. They helped the school in organising NE core events like Racial Harmony Day and National Day. They also represented the school in competitions such as the HDB Amazing Race and also participated in the OBS Racial Harmony Programme 3D2N Camp in Pulau Ubin.

INTERNATIONALIZATION PROGRAMMEENGLISH INGENIUM TRIP TO THE UNITED KINGDOM29 May – 8 June
On the 29th of May, 32 of Queensway’s Ingenium students went to the UK. We partook in many activities that increased our appreciation of the English Language. Our itinerary included watching ‘Wicked: The Musical’, a play called ‘The 39 Steps’, a poetry and dialogue session with BBC Poet-in-Residence Jacob Sam-La Rose, a tour of BBC Television Studios, a tour at Cadbury World, a Victorian Ghost Trail, visiting of the Parsonage and Dove Cottage at the Lake District and much more.
‘Wicked: The Musical’, was definitely an eye-opening experience with a message behind the story line, ‘Do not judge a book by its cover’. The play, ‘The 39 Steps’, was amazing with 4 actors playing over 30 different roles. The poetry and dialogue session with Jacob Sam-La Rose, a BBC Poet-in-Residence, was an experience that taught us various techniques to write poetry. After that session, we were inspired to pen our own poems.
The BBC tour took us to various studios and sets, which sparked our interest in media. We were so thankful for the opportunity to immerse ourselves in a fascinating world of broadcasting.
At York, we went on a Victorian Ghost Trail. We learnt a lot from our very entertaining guide who taught us the art of creating suspense when telling a story.
On the 2nd last day of the trip, we visited the Bronte Parsonage Museum. At the Bronte Parsonage Museum. Many of us were inspired by the Bronte sisters’ perservance through life’s challenges.
On the last day, we visited Dove cottage, which was once home to William Wordsworth from 1799 to 1808. On his lawns, overlooking Lake Windermere, each of us recited the poem we had written. It was truly an enriching activity for us all.
This trip to the United Kingdom was special to us as it made us see things from different perspectives and broadened our horizons. It was an unforgettable experience that would be ingrained in our memories forever.

HUMANITIES TRIP TO SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA7 June – 12 June
Annyeonghaseyo! On 7 June, 24 Secondary 3 students and 3 teachers departed for Seoul in South Korea. Over a period of six days, we experienced Korean culture, learnt more about Korean history and forged new friendships with Korean friends from Dongducheon Foreign Language High School. Personally, the highlight of our trip was our visit to the Demilitarized Zone. I had learnt about the conflict between North and South Korea in the classroom, but to be physically present at the site enhanced my understanding of the Korean War and its impact. Other experiences included the visit to historical sites like the War Museum, the conquest of Mount Seorak and wearing the hanbok which is the traditional Korean costume. These are enriching experiences and sweet memories that I can never forget.

CULTURAL IMMERSION TRIP TO CHENNAI, INDIA9 June – 13 June
Our Tamil Department’s school trip was an excellent way to expand on educational opportunities by taking learning beyond the classroom. Our pupils widened their horizons by being involved in all kinds of activities outside the school environment. The visit to the Tamil Heritage Centre ( Dhakshnachitra ) was an enriching experience for our pupils. The well-known landmarks like Thiruvalluvar Kotam, place of worship and Mahalipuram experience gave the pupils an insight to the Indian Arts and Culture.
We also visited Vellaiyammal International School and the Eelen Orphanage and were impressed by the various learning opportunities offered. Visits to the Science Centre and Mahalipuram were also part of our extensive learning programme. All in all, the trip was an enriching learning experience for all involved.

INTER-UNIFORMED GROUP SERVICE LEARNING TRIP TO VIETNAM11 June – 14 June
On 11th June, 30 students and 4 teachers embarked on a service learning trip to Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City. The team consisted students from Girl Guides, SJAB, NPCC and NCC Girls. Prior to the trip, the participants organized a flea market and car-wash to raise funds. A sum of $1900 was raised and it was used to purchase rice, oil, sugar, milk powder and stationery which were donated to the orphanages. During the trip, our students visited two of the Thien Phuoc Orphanages. They spent time interacting with the children, playing games and teaching art and craft. It was heartwarming and enriching experience. The students also visited the War Remnant Museum, Cu Chi tunnel and the Mekong Delta to learn more about the Vietnam War and the rich local culture of the Vietnamese. The trip enabled the students to serve the local community in Vietnam and also created global awareness. - Ms Vaani & Ms Sharelyn Teo

The prefects’ call of duty started on the very first day of school itself. The prefects played an important role in guiding the Secondary One pupils into the big Queensway family. The Prefectorial Board organized a series of orientation games for the freshmen, helping them to adapt to their new environment.
Apart from their day-to-day duties such as the morning assembly and the weekly assemblies, the prefects were very much involved in planning and organizing events. Some of the events planned
and executed by the board included the orientation games for the Secondary Ones, the Prefect’s Investiture, the Student Leaders Hand-Over Ceremony, Teachers’ Day Celebrations and the Annual Prefects’ Camp.
The prefects were also involved with official duties like the Cross Country Race, Speech Day, Sports Day, National Day, Meet-the-Parents sessions and many more. These events not only provided a platform for our prefects to sharpen their leadership and social skills

but also encouraged them to assume more leadership opportunities. With positive feedback from teachers and students, our prefects had definitely risen to these occasions commendably.
The highlight for the Prefectorial Board came in March where the Secondary 2 trainee prefects were given their ties, badges and recognition of their new post as prefects. To reaffirm their dedication to the board and school, the Secondary 2 prefects together with our senior prefects recited the Prefects’ Pledge. The prefect investiture was indeed a significant and meaningful one.
Besides the prefect investiture, we also had another ceremony where the out-going executive committee handed over the baton to the in-coming executive committee in the presence of the entire school in semester 2 during the morning assembly programme. This year, we had the privilege of participating the handing over ceremony with the executive committee of the various CCA groups. The entire school witnessed the appointment ceremony of the new members
of the executive committee members, exchange of blazers and the symbolic handing over of the school flag from the outgoing Head Prefect, Raiyan to the newly appointed Head Prefect, Nalina.
During the year, our prefects also attended various events to enrich their development as competent and passionate leaders. Some of the many events attended by our prefects included the Campus Change Makers panellist training held in May and Youth Leader Camp held at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in September. Later in the year, our Secondary 3 prefects also took part in an overseas adventure trip with other student leaders from various CCAs. The trip provided these young leaders with opportunities to realise their physical and mental potential by overcoming challenges and obstacles.
Overall, it has been a meaningful and rewarding year for the prefects. With passion and dedication as their guiding force, our prefects will continue to uphold the school’s core values of discipline, respect, responsibility and excellence.

The mission of the Boys’ Brigade is to nurture boys, based on Christian values to lead and to serve. Our company also seeks to inculcate the values of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline and Self Respect through our programs for the boys.
The 61st Company in Queensway Secondary School aims to provide a holistic education for our boys outside of the classroom. The boys are often challenged beyond their ability through various adventure activities such as kayaking, archery, abseiling and outdoor expeditions. They are also equipped with the knowledge and skills in First Aid, Total Defence, Drill and many other core badge work.
The Boys’ Brigade has always sought to serve the community, whether local or overseas. For our annual BB CARES event in July, our company linked up with High Point Community Services Association to visit the elderly home under their charge. Our boys put up performances to entertain the old folks and brought some joy and cheer into their lives. We also visited the Thrift Shop at the Association and helped to pack the items neatly for sale.
Every December, during the Christmas period, our boys will volunteer their time and effort to help out with the BB SHARE-A-GIFT project.

They station at the BB Headquarters in Zion Road and receive the donated food items and gifts from the public. They will sort out the items and pack them into bags to be distributed to the beneficiaries of the project which include the less privileged.
Our Company is also planning an overseas service learning trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia in November 2012. The company is seeking to build a long term relationship with our partners in Cambodia, so that our boys and officers can better meet the needs of the people there. The boys will be involved in the planning of the trip and take ownership of the program for the children there.
We have consistently sent teams to participate in HQ competitions such as the Adventure Quest and the Character Quest. The boys selected to represent the company in the events put in extra hours and effort to train and give their best. Their effort is praiseworthy and they do the company proud at the national level.

2012 heralds a new beginning for the Queensway Concert Band. Under the new wings of the conductor, Mr Tay Kai Tze, the band has scaled new heights and has shown tremendous growth. The band has always placed the development of their members to the fullest potential and discipline as their top priority. Always believing in showcasing our students’ talents, the band put up a combined concert with the Choir in August at Touch Community.
The band members played their hearts out and put their souls into their pieces. Queensway staff, alumni, parents and well-wishers had an entertaining session. Besides the band concert, the band also performed during the CCA Day concert at the beginning of the year and the annual Speech Day in April.
Intensive training camps were also organized in March and June to prepare the Secondary Ones for the various performances. Another camp was organized in May to welcome them and foster bonding with the rest of the band community through team-building games. All in all, it has been an exciting year for the band and it is our hope that the passion of music-making in each and every band member continue to grow and propel the band forward in the years to come.

Our C Girls started training as early as January once the Secondary One intake arrived and the selection process for potential players began. Through training, the girls learned basic footwork and positional awareness. Game strategy was slowly introduced and the players themselves started to gel as a team.
The C Girls competition started in July. The team won three of the four matches including the second place decider against Hong Kah Secondary. The girls breezed past Whitley Secondary 2-0 in the semi-finals and went up against a formidable Bowen Secondary and lost 3-0. The team stood tall despite inexperience and injuries throughout the tournament and made the school proud to achieve a National Runners-up spot. No mean feat, considering almost two-thirds of the team had not touched a football before January. Nur Izzati of 111 also received the Most Valuable Player Award.
The girls learnt character, resilience and courage that would take them further in life. Looking forward, the team will continue to put in their best effort and learn from the experiences that would take them further.

They then continued their journey to the National Volleyball Championship. Although our ‘B’ and ‘C’ Division Boys and ‘B’ Division Girls were unable to secure the top 4 placing in the zone this year, they had given their best in their training and strived to achieve greater heights with strong determination to do well in future competitions.
In December 2011, our Queensway Volleyball Girls team had the privilege of attending a training trip in Zhangzhou, China, where we trained at the official training hall of the Chinese National Women’s team. Besides being exposed to the Chinese culture, we had the honor of being trained by the local coaches and as the girls played friendly matches against the local Chinese teams. These trips instilled discipline and team spirit in our girls while they bonded and created new friendships within the team. Though the trainings were tough, the girls persevered through the physical and mental challenges and showed great sportsmanship.

CHOIR
This year, the Choir has 63 members to represent the school in performances and choir exchanges. The Choir was actively involved in performing in school and externally throughout the year. The Choir performed excellently in the 21st Century International Arts Festival in Genting Highlands, Malaysia in December 2011. They achieved a Gold Award and made the school proud with their commitment and determination. This spurred the members to continue to strive towards excellence.
In March, the Choir participated in a non-residential Choir Camp in school, which provided opportunities for the members to work together as a team, to strengthen their singing techniques and to prepare for future performances such as the MOE’s Performing Arts Festival held at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza. Other performances that the Choir was involved in were Speech Day and National Day Celebrations in school. The choir also proudly presented a varied repertoire of songs in the combined band and choir concert held in school, ranging from renaissance songs to “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga.
Other than performing for an audience, the choir members also attended concerts such as “A Drop in the Ocean” - a joint choral concert by Capella (USA) & Raffles Singers (Singapore) at the SOTA

Our graceful Chinese dancers
2012 has been an exciting and memorable year for the girls in the Chinese Dance Club. This year, they performed for events like the CCA Recruitment Day and the school’s Annual Speech Day.
During the Chinese New Year Celebrations this year, the girls set up a stall together with their teachers to sell snacks at the Fun Fair event. For CCA Recruitment Day, the girls performed a hip hop dance which showcased the lively side of the girls apart from their usual traditional Chinese Dance. The group was also invited to perform at the Singapore International Water Festival at The Marina Barrage. Their Speech Day dance item was a dance about happiness, and portrayed the gracefulness of the Chinese dancers.
Our girls also enjoyed attending performances such as Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Opening Ceremony Preview, Singapore Youth Festival 2012 International Night and
In 2011, the dancers managed to attain a Bronze Award at the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging.
We hope to recruit members who have a passion for dancing, as well as discipline to bring more successes to the club.

2012 started off on an encouraging note with the enthusiasm of seven new members from the Secondary One and Two cohorts, giving us a group of 17 dancers. Everyone got down to serious work immediately with 10 of the members signing up to perform in the spectacular water themed Chingay 2012
In addition, the members also competed in the Dance segment of the Tamil Language and Culture Festival co-organised by Cedar Girls School and Victoria School as well as attended a performance “The Hungry Stone” staged by the NUS Indian Dance with Raka Maitra as part of the NUS Arts Festival. During the year, the members also busied themselves planning the Community Involvement Programme carried out at St Hilda’s Community Centre. 7 members also went on a school trip to India which included a special dance session with an Indian dance school there.
Of course the highlight was the finale dance item at this year’s Speech and Prize-Giving Day Concert with the very energetic and entertaining dance to the popular song “Dohl Baje”.
The second half of the year was devoted to preparation for the upcoming SYF Dance Competition in 2013.

SYF Gold Award Malay dancers
In 2012, the Malay Dancers participated in a wide variety of activities. The year began with a CCA recruitment drive where our students put on their best show in a bid to attract new members. In early February, the group delighted the elderly at Ghim Moh Caregivers Centre with a performance as part of the centre’s Chinese New Year Celebrations. The group distributed oranges and some even took the initiative to teach a couple of sprightly senior citizens some dance steps. The Malay Dancers also spent some Saturday afternoons enjoying performances at Goodman Arts Centre and The Kallang Theatre which showcased Malay culture and tradition.
The dancers put in many hours of training and hard work to put up performances at school events such as the school’s Speech Day and National Day Celebrations. The group also put up a well-received public performance at the annual Muara Festival held at the Esplanade. We hope to maintain the Gold Award in the 2013 SYF Dance Competition. The group aspires to be the catalyst for students to explore and channel their keen interest in Malay Dance and Culture.

ART CLUB
Display for CCA Day
This year, the club saw a total of 25 creative members. These members were involved in a wide range of art-based activities from traditional Art to contemporary Digital Art. The activities were tailored for beginners where they would explore the different art mediums, methods and materials. Members then took part in various art competitions both internally as well as externally where their design competencies were judged both school and country-wide.
Besides that, the members went for Lasalle Open House to further expose them to the various programmes and activities at a tertiary school and the requirements needed for the various Design Courses. They were also brought to the National History Museum, to view masterpieces of drawings, paintings and photography from Musee d’Orsay, Paris. Through these exhibitions, our members were exposed to a greater variety of art in the public domain.
Our members also played a vital role in the Visual Art Exhibition held in May. They worked as a team in setting up the artworks and acted as Art Ambassadors, where they supervised and explained more about the exhibits to the visitors.
In addition, Queensway Art Club members collaborated with Queenstown Primary students in a service learning project. This collaboration - Happy Toilet Programme, allowed our members to develop skills such as planning, leadership, and teamwork. Our Art
Club students guided and monitored these juniors as they creatively enhanced the look of the school’s toilet doors by painting them with iconic elements such as music and nature. Other activities that Art Club members benefited from include: • “Trees for Life” Art Competition organised by National Parks Board • Anti-Drug Art Competition organised by Central Narcotics Bureau

This year, Green Club members were given the opportunity to maintain the two plots of Rooftop garden found along the link way at level 3. Students were trained in pruning and using of shears before they were allowed to prune the shrubs. The students had a wonderful time maintaining those patches.
As a part of the Earth Day celebration, our members were involved in creating pieces using coloured network cables that were discarded by the school. Members also learned to make papers beads from the YouTube video. The girls then fashioned them into accessories like earrings and pendants. All the products were then put up for display at the Atrium. Ice cream was also sold during the carnival to remind students about the effects on global warming on the ice caps.

Enrichment & Bonding Activities :Pupils go for termly informal movie and lunch gathering accompanied by the two teachers-in-charge, Mr Wong and Mdm Cheng.
AchievementsAs in previous years, AVA video and photography crew captured footage of school events such as CCE Camps, Cross Country, Block Adoption Programme and many more throughout the year. The footages were used in the creation of our in-house 2012 Speech Day at minimal cost. This project involved the collaborative efforts of several teachers including Mrs Goh Poh Im (script-writer). Mr Lui Seng Cheong (the Principal) and Mr Terence Yeo and Ms Lok Yin Yin (the Vice-Principals) were the project Advisors while Ms Arwinder Kaur was the narrator.
AVA Club (PA) members received training (conducted by in-house experts, Mr Naina and Mr Wong) on how to use PA equipment and consoles in the General Office and in the Hall Control Room.

MEDIA RESOURCE LIBRARY
This year the library rolled out intellectually stimulating reading programmes for the student body as well as the school librarians with its aim of encouraging students to be active readers.
To complement this new initiative, the National Library Board conducted the Information Literacy Workshop for our students in the first semester. In addition, Civica organised competitions such as the Night in the Library and eBook to recap and strengthen the research skills taught during the Information Literacy Workshop. The Book Cross @ QSS with its concept of “caught and release” books was introduced this year to encourage active readership as students collaborated in promoting certain genres and topics.
Another initiative was Student Librarians Book Club on Wednesdays in collaboration with the English Language and Mother Tongue Departments. To complement this initiative, the monthly thematic book displays were revamped to introduce classics. The monthly thematic book display tied in with the 200th Charles Dickens birthday celebrations. To kindle students’ interest in books, the Class Library Representatives cum English Representatives were involved in book
Training conducted by Civica
selection for the library. The holiday reading programme together with the National Library Board’s Assembly Talk on reading in Term 2 helped to promote books and reading.
The student librarians were also actively involved in the display of newspaper cuttings pertaining to the Pupil Development and the National Education messages at the National Education Corner in the Library. In addition, this year, the library was actively involved in National Day Celebrations and conducted activities to complement these school events.
This year the MRL invited the Academy of Singapore Teachers Library to support the staff professional development by coming down to the school to promote books and digital resources during the Staff Professional Development in Term 3.
In conclusion, the exciting student-centred programmes had contributed significantly in boosting quality reading amongst students.

PUBLICATIONS
Our main pride every year is the production of the school magazine. The club has been responsible for documenting all school events and enhancing our school image both locally and abroad. The members provided write-ups for the school magazine which is our key portfolio annually. The members were also involved in selecting digital photographs, captions and editing reports of school events. We hope that the learning experience of our members would develop into a passion for writing and an interest in journalism. Three students also attended the STAR Concert organized by SPH at the Gardens by the Bay.
To enhance our school image abroad, the annual yearbook was presented as a corporate gift to our foreign friends on our field trips to India, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. We hope that our foreign friends will learn more about Queensway’s programmes and achievements.
