Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah , and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. •Tazkeya (slaughtering according to requirements in Islamic rules) :

The slaughtering by a Muslim or Christian/Jew of a permissible animal, slaughtered or butchered controlled wild animal using a slaughtering machine for the sake of Allah, by any of the following means:

•Cutting the throat of the animal (Dhabh)

It consists in cutting the esophagus, two jugular veins and the pharynx of the animal.

•Slaughtering (Nahr):

It consists in plunging a Knife in the base of the neck (libah). (The point between core of the neck). This is the method preferred for killing camels and similar animals. This method is also tolerated for the killing of cattle.

• Immolation (Aqr)1)

It consists in wounding of an uncontrolled animal in any part of the body. This method is applied for wild animals hunting of which is lawful (halal), or ferocious domestic animals. If the animal is captured alive, it should be slaughtered or have its throat cut.

How To Claim Halal in UAE?

The only legitimate way of claiming Halal in

the UAE is using the —

Halal National MarkThis is in accordance to the vision of HH

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum

Cabinet Resolution No. 10 of 2014

Regarding Usage of any other Halal Mark or Halal Claim.

Article 9, Clause 4:

“No products are to be displayed as distinguished to

reflect compliance with the provisions of Islamic

Sharia or as being halal, unless they satisfy the

provisions of this Regulation.”

Violation to Cabinet Resolution

Article No. 7 - Clauses A and B:

A) In the event of finding any violation to the provisions of this

resolution, the Authority or the competent authority, as the case

may be, takes action to remove this violation and their

implications based on it, and for that it may:

1) Assign the violating party responsible for the violating product

to withdraw it from the market in order to straighten its position,

return it to the country of origin or destroy it within the period of

time specified by the Authority or by the competent authority, as

the case may be.

Violation to Cabinet Resolution

2) Take all the necessary actions by the competent authority to

withdraw, impound or destroy these products, or any other action

necessary to remove the violation committed, and it may announce

the withdrawal of the product from the market while the violating

party bears all the costs involved.

B) Without prejudice to any more severe penalty provided for by

the legislation in force, whoever violates the provisions of this

resolution is penalized with the penalties set forth in the Federal

Law No. (28) of 2001, on the establishment of the Emirates

Authority for Standardization and Metrology, as amended.
