Since the founding of the company in 1917by RagnAR CArlstedt, who developed andpatented the "Flapper Nozzle" system, thecompany has enjoyed a very successful andsustained history. A year after the formation,in 1918, Arca Regler AG was then establishedin Sweden and also in Berlin in 1922. Afterthe Second World War the company was re-launched by Dr. Ing. Ludwig Kaspers andAdolf Paulsen in Tönisvorst near Düsseldorf.
In 1970 a second manufacturing facility inGermany was established near the MoselRiver. During 1979 the managing responsibil-ity is handed over to Dr. Ing. Rüdiger Kaspers, MBA.Later, in the nineties, Heinz M. Nägel is appointedTechnical Manager and drives the innovative develop-ment of the ARCA Flow Group.
The international activitiesof ARCA start in the mid-eighties with the founda-tion of ARCA Controls Ltd.in India as a joint venturewith Forbes Marshall.
In 1987 the successful cooperation with SAM YANG inSouth Korea was established. In 1994 von RohrArmaturen AG in Switzerland and the Netherlands jointhe Arca Flow Group. One year later ARCA enters theChinese market with a licence agreement and in 1998enters the American continent with a subsidiary inMexico.
The company’s growth continues into the 21st century.In 2000 the FELUWA Pumpen GmbH joins the ARCAFlow Group and one year later the Swiss WEKA AG, awell-known manufacturer of cryogenic valves and levelmeasuring instruments, follows.In 2002 TOA Valve in Osaka agrees to cooperate insales and service in the Japanese market. In the sameyear licence and marketing agreements for the ECOTROL® range of control valves start with WuzhongInstrument Co. Ltd. in P.R. China, as well as withMETSO Automation for worldwide sales and service oflinear control valves.

High performing ECOTROL® control valves, Pressure Reducing &Steam De-Superheating control valves (PRDS) operate in manyindustrial and public power plants. Whereas ECOTROL® valvescontrol feed water, oil, gas, condensate and low and high pressuresteam, steam conditioning valves reduce high pressure and temper-atures simultaneously. They are inserted between the steam gene-rator and the peripheral plants.
The steam conditioning valve is at the heart of a steam conditioningstation. The valve reduces the pressure by means of one or multi-step trims, reducing the pressure in stages to the required finalvalue. At the same time it controls the injection of cooling water toreduce the steam temperature to the desired final value.
The design of Power Plants is becoming more and more compact,requiring savings in both space and cost. This can be achieved bysteam conditioning valves with direct injection. The standard rangeof ARCA steam PRDS’s injects the cooling water directly after thefirst or second stage in reduction. In that way the turbulences occur-ring in this area lead to an optimum mixing.
The ARCA steam conditioning valves in bypass of the turbine areoften implemented in angular design with integrated binary nozzleat the outlet. The binary nozzle guarantees an optimal coolingwater atomisation over the whole operating range. The valves at thesame time serve as safety shut-off valves according to TRD 421(Technical Guideline Steam).
The modular design of the ARCA valves allows the exchange oftrims (maintenance) without removing the valve from the line.
With higher pressure differentials, a stable operation and furthernoise attenuation can be achieved by the addition of further stages.Pneumatic, electric or electro-hydraulic actuators are also available.

In turbo compressors a control valve is installed in thebypass that diverts the compressed gas volume streaminto the intake socket of the compressor and blowsexcess air into the atmosphere.
ARCA valves in this application fulfil, very reliably, anumber of tasks. They serve as start-up and shut-downof the compressor. In critical operation they maintainthe machine at constant revolutions during fluctuation inconsumption, where excess gas is diverted or blown off.
The most important task however is to serve as a safe-ty valve for surge protection control. The reliable ARCAvalves prevent the so called pumping as a result of flowinterruption or in the case of the drop in flow below theminimum output. Swinging of the compressor wheel aswell as severe damage to bearings, rotor and fin can besuccessfully prevented.
The bypass valve at the compressor has the importanttask to monitor the process accurately, to control it andto switch it off in case of emergency. ARCA valves aresensitively adjusted, that they guarantee safety as wellas the process continuity.
ARCA is aware of the responsibility towards our customers regarding the quality of our surge limit control valves and pay special attention to the exactcompliance with all material and product specs.
For gas exploration, from the gas processing stage tothe storage stage in caverns, ARCA can supply the cor-rect control valves. For all applications, be it sweet, sourgas or condensate extrusion, ARCA has the correctcontrol valves in its modular construction program. Withthe new ECOTROL® range of valves the end useracquires the "state of the art" control valve.

In today’s world, products manufactured by the chemi-cal industry have become indispensable. The spectrumextends from chemicals for the building industry, thedaily usage of plastic products, high tech materials inthe automotive and aircraft construction to products forthe food and pharmaceutical industry.All of these fields have individual demands regardingthe production process and the associated equipment.In every field the production phase has to be able tocope with complex processes which have to be controlledreliably.

Construction with up-to-date methods
Our technicians and engineers design with "State of the Art", net-worked 2D and 3D-CAD work stations. In the process engineeringdepartment computers simulate every step of the machining pro-cess on the screen and create the related NC programs. The pro-grams take into account different materials and the respective tooland machining parameters and will later be fed to the CNC lathes atthe machining centre.

Economic success resulting from optimal process chains
From the customer inquiry to the delivery of the pro-duct, the ARCA Flow Group has optimised the logisticsof all company processes with SAP. In accordance withthe quality management system the production of valveparts attains the required high precision standard tosecure an efficient and smooth assembly. The followingtesting guarantees that all customer requirementsregarding the specification as well as product featuresand performance are met.
The production takes place in the main location inTönisvorst near Düsseldorf and in a second factory inthe Mosel area. In Strotzbüsch, the manufacture ofspare parts along with completed valves up to DN 100 /PN 40 (4", ANSI 300#) including the pneumatic multi-spring diaphragm actuators are produced. The produc-tion in Tönisvorst focuses on bigger valves up to nomi-nal width 1200, high pressure valves PN 63 and above,in cast and forged steel as well as the steam conditio-ning valves and all pneumatic actuators. Oxygen andlow temperature valves are also part of the productionline and assembled under clean room conditions.

Quality creates customer satisfaction
Over ten years ago ARCA implemented a certified quality manage-ment system according to ISO 9000. This lays the foundation forthe best possible sizing giving optimal functioning of our valves aswell as guaranteeing the reliability and long cycle life. Further, itassists in adherence to the delivery date and the customer orien-ted service. In order to be present anywhere in the global marketwe have acquired additional national quality certification, inorder to further enhance our reputation by supplying to the customer requirements wherever they may be.
Our QM-system is continuously monitored through internal as well asexternal audits. This allows us to ensure an up to date system.Stock receipt and production controls with state of the art measurementtechniques as well as a CNC-steered 3-coordinate measuring machineguarantee the maintenance and enhancement of our high standard.
All ARCA valves are subject to a continuous quality inspection from theplanning and development during the production and up to the finalinspection. Every valve is inspected in order to guarantee absolute reliabil-ity and plant safety, taking into consideration previously defined applicationconditions.

Over the life cycle of a valve, ARCA can supply a main-tenance team for its customers. Our experienced ser-vice team can supply a guaranteed and certified on site
maintenance service as well as being available inemergency situations within a short time and on a worldwide basis.
Our engineers have access, via the internet, to datafiles relating to the life history of any product we havesupplied, as well as any repairs or modifications thatmay have been carried out on the specific product. Inthis way we can intervene quickly and safely, makingany spare parts available in time. The insights won inthis way are the basis for further development of theARCA valves, adapted to the individual needs in materi-al and engineering.
The repair centre in the Eifel region is fully equippedand staffed to undertake preventative maintenancework as well as any major overhaul during shut-downsof control valves. With a well-defined and certified pro-cess we examine and repair the valves with originalspare parts. After the full testing and certification thevalves are ready for re-use.

FELUWA – competence in pumps
The FELUWA Pumpen GmbH company is part of theinternational ARCA Flow Group since the year 2000.The company, located in Mürlenbach/ Eifel, has morethan 100 years’ history and has for the last 50 yearsbeen successfully focusing on the development, fabri-cation and sales of pumps for slurry transport and diffi-cult media.
Full order books have formed a sound foundation forenormous investments in buildings and productionplants. For example a machining centre for a weight per
unit of up to twelve tons.
The core piece of the production is the hose diaphragmpiston pump, which is used worldwide to transport slur-ries and pastes of very different consistencies, be theychemically aggressive or mechanically abrasive, fluidor highly viscous. The pumps are used in various fieldsof the process technology, as for example in the (petro-)chemical industry, in power stations and Syngas plants,in mining, in the food industry and many others.
