A unique furnace design
Thetransverse-heatedgraphitefurnaceisamustwhereoptimum
atomizationconditionsandhighsamplethroughputarerequired
simultaneously.Thisclearlysuperiorconcepthas,foranumber
ofyears,beensuccessfullyemployedinallAnalytikJenagraphite
furnaceAASsystems.Itguaranteesuniformtemperatureallalong
theopticalaxisthroughoutthetubeandeliminatesmemoryand
condensationeffectsthatoccuratthecoolertubeendsofcon-
ventional,longitudinallyheatedgraphitetubes.Loweratomizing

AS-FandAS-FDmakeyourroutineanalysesofstandardsand
samplesalmostfullyautomatic.Integratedintheoverallcon-
ceptoftheinstrument,eithersamplercanbesimplyinstalled
directlyintothesamplecompartment.Thissavesspaceand
minimizestubinglengths–thebestwaytopreventcontamina-
tionincaseofrealsamples.

contactedbyacidsorsolventsaremadeofcorrosion-resistant

caneasilybeupgradedbyaddingnewfunctions,e.g.adding
anamalgamationmoduletoanexistingsystem,orconverting
aBatch-intoaFlowInjection-System.Thesystemsarefully
integratedintotheAASsoftware,whichautomaticallydetects

parametersettingsforthatspecificconfiguration.
HydrEA technique
Couplingthehydrideandgraphitefurnacetechniquesopensup
newprospectsforthedeterminationofhydride-formingelements
(e.g.,As,Se,Sb).Astheseelementscanbepreconcentratedin
thegraphitetube,thedetectionsensitivityincreases,cross-over
effectsandcontaminationproblemsareminimizedandmatrix
