[Quality of life] is an individual’s perception of
their position in life in the context of the culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, values and concerns incorporating physical health, psychological state, level of independence, social relations, personal beliefs and their relationship to salient features of the environment quality of life refers to a subjective evaluation which is embedded in a cultural, social and environmental context.

Concept “Quality of life”
Social Health Economic Environmental QOL is the product of the interplay among
social, health, economic and environmental conditions which affect human and social development
Indicators for QOL
Standard of living is a measure of the quantity
and quality of goods and services available to people.
The standard of living includes factors such as income, quality and availability of employment, class disparity, poverty rate and etc.

In 1962, Abraham Maslow established a theory
of quality of life

Their QOL Model is based on 3 categories: Being Belonging Becoming

Physical being – physical health, personal
hygiene, and physical appearance Psychological being – feelings Spiritual being – reflects personal values,
beliefs which not associated with religions
Being
Environment of individual Physical belonging – connection with ph.
Environment (home, workplace, school) Social belonging- social environment (family,
friends) Community belonging – access o resources
(income, social services, education)

Oriented to purposeful activities, achieving
personal goals Practical becoming – describes day-to day
actions (domestic activities, volunteering) Leisure becoming – promote relaxation, family
visits, card games) Growth becoming – promote improvement or
maintained of knowledge and skills

society is concerned no with how much, but with how good not with the quantity of goods but with the quality of their lives.”
