QUALITY TIME FISHING CLUB
The Second Annual Charles Smith Scholarship Trout Tournament was held in June at the Texas City Dike. Congratulations to winner Leonard Fields. Thanks to Boyd’s One Stop for hosting the weigh-in station.
2008 Fun Day Highlights The QTFC Fun Day was held on Saturday, July 26th at Kingdom Park. Although it was pretty hot, it did not deter some 80 youth from having a great time. Activity booths such as musical chairs, balloon darts, face painting, horse shoes, gold fish toss, moon walks and the rock climbing wall kept the kids busy throughout the day. Other booths included membership booth, food booth and a raffle booth. Thanks to Mary and Mike Lewis and committee members, the food booth was a hit with items for sale such as smoked turkey legs, hot dogs, chili dogs, sausage on a stick, frito pies, snow cones, chips, pickles, candy, and popcorn balls. Adults also had the chance to play checkers and chess as well show off their line dancing skills. QTFC partner, the Christian Outdoor Coalition, was on hand exhibiting their trailer and passing out literature about their organization. Member Charles Hub-bard also displayed his boat for those interested in boating. We are truly thankful to those members who participated in the set-up, break-down and clean up; and especially grateful to those members who provided tents, generators, fans and extension cords. Thanks to the Community of Faith and Bishop James Dixon III for their support in this event.

In May member Sonia Ewing caught her first trout at 21 inches down at Sea Wolf Park in Galveston. Live shrimp fished under a popping cork was the bait used. Her second trout came in at 15 inches.

How to Reach the Newsletter Staff
The mission of QTFC is to teach and provide hands-on experience of fishing techniques to all youth and instill values and character of outdoor life experi-ences, environmental awareness, outdoor ethics, personal responsibility and goal attainment. Our aim is to get youth out of the city so that they may acquire the appreciation of outdoor living and provide them with a more positive vision of what their lives can be.
Publication of the QTFC Newsletter will be distributed quarterly. Please submit your announcements/articles/pictures in sufficient time for publication.

Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., unless notified, at the HCC Pinemont Campus, 1265 Pinemont. Many of our meetings feature a guest speaker, often a professional guide or experienced angler, who talks about tackle selection, rigging methods and techniques that have proven successful in local waters. Our Club meetings and the QTFC Newsletter strive to provide timely and exclusive fishing, boating and social activities, as well as important business issues.
