• Chief Electrical Inspectorate of Maharashtra in association with Industry stake holders including International Copper Association India (ICA India)

organized Electrical Safety Week during 11th Jan 2019 till 17th Jan 2019. The Safety Week was aimed to outline the provisions of safety regulation with

the new technological developments, problems and challenges in implementing the regulation and to ensure the safety of electrical installation and

the user of electricity.

• Participation in 2 days All India seminar on “RERA FOR TRANSPARENT REAL ESTATE” organized by The Institution of Engineers (India) Goa State Centre

in association with GOA RERA, Government of GOA and Builders Association of India 21st & 22nd Feb 2019. Considering ICA India engagement with

MAHARERA regarding inclusion of code of practices for Electrical safety for all new buildings, Institution of Engineers & GOA RERA invited ICA India to

present on Electrical Installation safety guidelines during the seminar .Seminar was attended by Developers, Builders, Architects, govt. authorities, IEI

Members etc.

• Release of new Indian Standards – IS 732 – Code of Practice for Electrical Wiring Installations for lighting circuits min cross section is 1.5 mm2 with only

copper conductor and for power circuits min cross Section is 2.5 mm2 with only Copper Conductor up to 10 mm2

• Submission of revised draft for Section 9 & 19 i.e. Electrical Safety & Electrical installation draft to BIS, High Rise Buildings, Solar PV installation, etc.

• New subcommittee is formed under supervision of Mr. Debdas Goswami for the formation of draft on

building aspects which includes BMS, EMS, FIRE Safety etc.

• ICA conducted a media roundtable on electrical safety in Hyderabad on “Safe wiring, safer buildings” to

create awareness about the need for right quality of wiring in buildings

• Completion of Phase 1 Electrical safety Social Media Campaign

• All India Electrical Safety Campaign by CEA, BIS, ICAI & IEEMA

• Electrical Fire Incident Study- Received sample report for Mumbai & Delhi and completed analysis of Media

released data to be submitted before 5th April

• Developed verification process for Implementation of National Standards & Codes by respective State PWD &

Projects under Rural Electrifications, etc.

• Revised agreement with Just Dial for creating e-platform for ICAI trained electricians

• An authored article in Business Wire on old electrical wiring: An invitation to electrical accidents which got amplified and resulted in 77total coverage

• ICA India conducted a national seminar on electrical safety and energy conservation in buildings which resulted in 15 total coverage

• ICA India participated in the two day all India seminar on “RERA for Transparent Real Estate” on Feb 21st and 22nd 2019

Electrical Safety Campaign (January to March)

Objective : To educate people about electrical safety in residential and commercial areas and the importance of copper wiring in buildings.

• Highlighted the real life fire incidences, places where fire occurrences are high, unsafe electrical installations, launch of electrical week campaign, appliances and load and things which should be consider before buying a new house

• Shared Amol’s interview for the campaign ‘Safe Wiring Safer Buildings’ with TV5 and Hybiz

• The larger campaign was the Summer Campaign. We focused on spreading awareness on the reason why old building are prone to shortcircuits and the ways to prevent it

• The creative’s of the campaign were shared on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn

• Hosted an internal workshop at Bhubaneswar in Orissa for CESU, an independent DISCOM on 6th February on the topic “TechnicalSuperiority of Copper Winding to enhance Reliability, Energy Efficiency of Distribution Transformers and Active Repair Way toImprove Legacy DTs”.

• On 20th and 21st Feb attended ICDC annual conference as well as technical conference on “Role of Copper in Switchgear Industry ’.The annual conference offered few market information and networking opportunity useful for ICA.

• Attended IEEMA meeting of Select Members of Distribution Transformer Division discussing the maiden Conference forDistribution Transformers wherein ICA India is part of organizing committee and technical committee too. Meeting held on21st February discussing agenda , format and budget. Brochure development and theme of conference design is facilitated by ICAIndia.

• Planned and organized an internal workshop at CEA for it’s distribution division officers, including officers from REC, PFC etc, during 28th Februarywhere acting member Distribution joined as well, The recognition of ICA India as trusted partner in facilitating some of DPD divisional initiativeslike DT O&M Manual development, DT failure rate data gathering and analytics and role of Copper In active repair got due acknowledgement.However continuing engagement shall help in future to formulate policy favorable to Copper growth in India.

• ICA participated in International Energy Services Conclave (IESC 2019) organized by AEEE where Mr. Sanjeev Ranjan was a panelist for one of theExecutive Discussion where he spoke on challenges faced by MSMEs

• Meeting with ICDC Kolkata on 18th March to discuss development of training module for utility decision makers and OEMs working engineers on“Copper and its related aspects or Why Copper for a reliable infrastructure” so that such modules are either used on demand for training by OEMsor pitching before utilities to influence and reinforce positive perception about Copper in electrical applications.

• ICA India hosted workshop with OPTCL officials, the state designated agency to oversee operation of other three DISCOMs namely WESCO,SOUTHCO and NORTHCO, on 7th February. The in-house workshop was attended by Chief General Manager Material Management and othersenior officials. Around 20 official attended. ICA India has committed to lend support in design optimization and support during repair process inhouse.

• Visit to HRT Transformer Nagpur plant during 2nd March and discussing about developing a business paper on “Benefits of Standardization in DT – for SMEs ”and facilitating propagation of active repair POC experience through “word of mouth’’ amongst various players and utilities considering the business potentialinvolved.

• Meeting with pManifold on 3rd Mar to develop case study of both MSEDCL Wardha and SNDL Nagpur pilot cases for active repair concept besides carrying outDT data analytics for Wardha substation jurisdiction, by obtaining permission from MSEDCL concerned.

• Attending ITMA executive Council meeting of ITMA during 8th March at Noida. Meeting attended by Mr Goswami. Issues of dual certification, warranty periodand hosting International conference in Nov’19 were key agenda points discussed and action initiated.

• Hosted off site brain storming workshop of Project Associated for Transformer program during 8th and 9th March at Indore. Action points to achieve objectiveof the program in 2019 and 2020 are drawn after two days interactive sessions and field feedbacks.

• Meeting of IEEMA Power Transformer Division attended on 27th March at IEEMA Worli office. Meeting was well attended and few key points discussedespecially CEA O*M Manual and Training of utility engineers on designed module basis.

• Meeting with EE MSEDCL Wardha and his team during 2nd March along with Mr Sameer of HRT Transformer from Nagpur, active repairer of first pilot sample,to review the performance of pilot DT that went through active repair process and in service for last two years

• ICA India in partnership with Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS) organized a national seminar on ‘Energy Efficient Motor Standards & EmergingChallenges

• The seminar had experts from Dept. of Industrial Policy & Promotion, BIS, Siemens, KBL, ERDA and ICA India

• It attracted a diverse set of participants from government, policy makers, manufacturers and consultants namely, DMRC, EIL, ABB,Crompton, Marathon, SEW Eurodrive, Havells, BHEL, NTPC, Aditya Birla, Usha International to name a few

• Over 80 attendees from across the industries & motor manufacturer eco-system participated in the event

• Participated in International Energy Services Conclave (IESC 2019) organised by AEEE where Mr. Sanjeev Ranjan spoke on challenges faced byMSMEs- He stated that MSMEs have smaller scale operations and a smaller capital base, as compared to large enterprises; therefore, theytypically do not have access to affordable financing and readily available technology solutions. Defence Against Material Substitution in HVAC – India

• Seminar on small diameter copper tube heat exchanger

• Emphasizing on the advantages of smaller diameter copper tube development in India, International Copper Association India (ICA India)organized a special seminar in Gurugram on 23rd Jan 2019. The seminar was hosted with an aim to showcase how smaller-diameter tubescan be used to increase the rate of heat transmission through coils in numerous applications, thereby improving the energy efficiency ofHVAC products.

• Gracing the event in large numbers were professionals from the Research and Development team of room air conditioners and coilmanufacturers from across the country. The panel at the seminar included Mr. Frank Gao, ICA China, Ajay Sharma, Spirotech HeatExchangers Pvt. Ltd., Dr. Wu, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Mr. Hong Qingchi, Hailiang Co Ltd., Mr. Anand Sharma, Burr Oak Tools Inc, Mr.Harshal Upadhyay, Zamil Air Conditioners, and Mr. Avinash Khemka, ICA India

• The seminar was well received by the participants with lots of interactions during the day between participants and speakers.

• 100% Copper Advantage Campaign

• International Copper Association of India (ICA India) rolled out a powerful digital campaign on 100% copper ACs across all their social mediaplatforms this summer. The content shared was educational and engaging and aimed at spreading the message of 100% Copper ACs. Thiswas driven through insights, videos, GIFs and the engagement was in the form of Twitter polls, contests, quizzes, games

• Promotion of smaller diameter copper tube for heat exchangers:

• ICA India continues to support the air conditioners industry across Asia by proving regular inputs and support such as 5 mm SimulationSoftware and connect with industry experts to OEMs for optimising their design to use smaller diameter copper tubes for betterperformance and cost improvement

• ICA India has formed Power Cable Alliance (PCA), which is envisaged as an association of organizations and individuals working together topromote the creation of safe, reliable and energy efficient electrical infrastructure in India through the use of copper power cables

• PCA has representation from some of the country’s leading cable and rod manufacturers. PCA provides a platform that brings together variousstakeholders together to push for the creation of high quality electrical infrastructure in India

• All of PCA’s various initiatives such as consultative workshops, seminars, partnership programs have active participation from manufacturers ofpower cables and rods. Not only are they an integral part of these initiatives, they also provide input which guides ICA I’s and in turn, PCA’s effortsto promote the use of copper power cables across industries

• Following are the initiatives taken in the given period, through which ICA India has got PCA to engage with consumers across key industries:

Consultative workshop

• The third workshop was on the theme – Right-cabling practices for IT industry, metro rail and infrastructure projects. This workshop took place inBengaluru on February 19, 2019

• This workshop witnessed strong participation from project consultants, representatives of electricity distribution companies and designers

FIRESAFEINDIA 2019 – Seminar by PCA & FSAI

• PCA and Fire & Security Association of India (FSAI) are two organizations striving for a common goal – creating a fire safe India through safe, reliable and high quality electrical infrastructure. As a result, ICA India conceptualized the partnership between PCA and FSAI. PCA signed a non-financial MoU with FSAI, which is a leading organization with a proven track record in the field of fire safety.

• On March 15, 2019, PCA and FSAI organized a national seminar FIRESAFE INDIA 2019, which brought some of the biggest industry leaders and decision-makers to deliberate issues that are hindering the creation of quality electrical infrastructure in the country.

• The two organizations will work together to promote the creation of reliable electrical infrastructure in India through regular summits, seminars, preparation of common minimum programs and position papers

• On the digital front, as a precursor to the event, ICA India arranged for a LIVE discussion between Mr. Vishvesh Bhatia and Vikas Saxena, President, Delhi Chapter, FSAI on the topic Achieving Excellence in Safety through Innovative Solutions. The live discussion was viewed by 118 people and received 490 impressions and 69 engagements

• In the run up to the event, the audience was invited to share their questions to the panel on Twitter and LinkedIn

• The event saw a large volume of content being shared on the PCA twitter handle. A variety of formats such as images, speaker-quote creatives, and videos were leveraged

• ICA India also captured 35 video bytes of the speakers at the event, where they were asked them specific questions around fire safety standards, power cables, electrical infrastructure, etc. The content received 35,807 impressions and 1291 engagements

• EPR Magazine featured an interview of Virendra Kumar Gupta, highlighting the initiatives by Power Cable Alliance and the outlook on thefuture of copper in the Indian electrical sector

• PCA organized a seminar on electrical fire safety, in association with FSAI which was attended by 20 journalists. The event received 18impactful stories across print, wires and online platforms

Key Initiatives

• APQI was invited to speak on ‘’Power Quality Need for Industry’’ at Mumbai during 1st February to an exclusive group of consultants fromCEAAMA.

• APQI was invited as “Key Note Speaker” during a prestigious bi annual event “CAPACIT 2019” organized by IEEMA, countries leading electricaland electronic manufacturers association. The event spread over two days where undersigned delivered keynote on “Power Quality – Need forRegulation” during inaugural session that is graced by the presence of Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power –Govt of India, President and DG ofIEEMA

• On 2nd February APQI delivered a presentation during CII Workshop on Power Quality Issues & Solution and Energy Monitoring Systems atBMCC held at Pune. The automobile industry stakeholders were present and NSN partner Rajen Mehta helped delivering the presentation onbehalf of APQI.

• During 8th February meeting held with CESC Regulatory Affairs group to promote PQ awareness and education amongst it’s high valuecustomers besides deploying PQ monitoring facilities for capturing data for decision making in future.

• Meeting held on 20th Feb with Mr Aumkar Borgaonkar, Fellow - Clean Energy Lab cum an IIT Delhi Researcher, Dr Kanetkar and MrRajen to discuss reactive power model development for regulatory assistance and also FOR PQ Regulatory Report dissemination.

• Meeting held with Mr Saju from Unicorn UAE on 26th February regarding APQI activity in GCC region.

• Meeting held with CBIP during 18th and 27th February wherein decision to conduct a PQ Conference for Utility Officials andRegulatory staff during 30/31st May is taken. APQI will be acknowledged as “Knowledge Partner” and whole organization includingcost shall be borne by CBIP.

• Attended “Vision Zero ” conference during 18th Feb at IIT Delhi organized by DGFASLI , DGUV – German Govt body, and ISSAI aninternational association for preventing accidents in work place and promoting OSHA principles.

• APQI is invited by Energy Ensemble to speak on ‘’Power Quality Issues – Gaps Today and Challenges for Future’’ at Kolkata during 19th March .

• Undersigned made a presentation to exclusive group of policy makers, utilities and regulators from Eastern region and Delhi.
