The Uniform

Girls are expected to be well turned out, clean and tidy at all times. As girls move through the

school their uniforms vary slightly:

L4 – L5: Full uniform

U5: Full uniform but girls are permitted to wear a hoodie rather than the school

sweater

L6 – U6: Own clothes are permitted but should be smart and business wear

Some things to remember:

Girls should have a good supply of Cash’s name tapes at school.

Watches, tennis and squash racquets should be engraved with the girl’s initials. Girls who wear glasses must have one pair with unbreakable lenses for games.

Hair bands, if worn with school uniform, must be dark navy or black.

House Colours

Each lower school pupil belongs to a house which has its own colour:

School stage House Day/Boarding Colour

L4 – U5 Ffyler Day Purple

L4 – U5 Webbe Day Yellow

L4 – U5 Wisdome Day Red

L4 – U5 Maddock Boarding Dark Blue

L4 – U5 Wilkins Boarding Green

L4 – U5 Moore Boarding Green

In the Sixth Form, there are two houses: Holmes for L6 boarding and day students and Michell

for U6 boarding and day students. The Sixth Form houses are not assigned house colours as they

are not required to wear a formal school uniform. Please note all Sixth Form students must still

purchase a sports uniform.

During a given academic year there are two uniforms:

Winter Autumn and spring terms from September to April

Summer Summer term from May to July

The changes to each uniform are minor and listed in the following pages to accommodate the

change in seasons.

*Items stocked in the school shop. Items in bold should be purchased via the school shop. All other items may be purchased from alternative outlets.

Lacrosse mouth guards

In accordance with guidelines issued by the governing bodies of sports (hockey and lacrosse), and

recommendations from the British Dental Association, it is compulsory for girls at Queen Anne’s

to wear a custom-made mouth guard for certain sports. It is important that the mouth guard is

made to a specific British standard by a dentist and laboratory. Self-moulded ‘boil and bite’ type

mouth guards are not recommended.

OPRO, one of the main suppliers of mouthguards in the UK visit Queen Anne’s during the first

week of the Autumn Term each year. You can download a mouthguard order form from the

OPRO website; www.opro.com.

Squash

Squash is part of the curriculum for girls in Year 4 and above. Girls in L4 may play during extra-

curricular time. The use of eye protection is a compulsory requirement and provided by school.

the UK will be available from the school shop.

Personal effects insurance

Girls’ personal effects are not covered by the school’s insurance policy and their belongings

should therefore be covered by your own home “all-risks” or contents policy, or a specific

insurance policy to cover your daughter’s possessions whilst at school.

Your daughter is covered by a Pupil’s Personal Accident Insurance Scheme, which is managed by

HSBC Insurance Brokers. This incurs no additional cost as the termly premium is incorporated in

our current fee structure.
