TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME WE ARE INVITED TO LIVE IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD

FOR ALL ETERNITY

As we move to the end of another liturgical year, our readings begin to speak to us about the end times. Full of hope and encouragement, they are meant to spur us on to faithful Gospel living no matter what befalls us in this life. Set among them is

the responsorial psalm for today, Psalm 23, where the Lord is our shepherd who leads us to green pastures. “The feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy to come. Go out, therefore, into the main roads and invite whomever you find.’ The servants went out into the streets and gathered all they found, bad and good alike, and the hall was filled with guests.” Readings for the week of October 11, 2020 Sunday: Is 25:6-10a/Ps 23:1-3a, 3b-4, 5, 6 [6cd]/Phil 4:12-

ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY In today’s Gospel we hear Jesus say: Many are invited, but few are chosen.” To give thanks for all that God has given to you, have you considered answering the call to help serve the poor by joining the Society of St. Vincent de Paul?

VOCATIONS Whether we realize it or not, countless blessings are being bestowed upon us. Our very existence is itself a gift. How grateful are we for our blessings? How can we live out our appreciation? Perhaps we can do this by answering the Lord when He calls upon us. If God is calling you to a Church vocation, call Fr. Andrew Lauricella at 847-5535. ‘A HOSPITAL CHAPLAIN’S RETROSPECTIVE ON END

OF LIFE’ As part of Our Lady of Pompeii’s Faith Enrichment series, Father Louis Klein will speak about ministering to the sick and dying, from a hospital Chaplain’s point of view and experience on Monday, October 16th, at 7 pm at Our Lady of Pompeii, located at 129 Laverack Avenue in Lancaster. He will also talk about the heroic doctors, nurses, and staff, and what they go through day to day. Join us for Mass before Fr. Lou’s presentation at 6:30 pm. Reservations are required for social distancing; call 683-6522.

WORD OF LIFE

The Gospel of life is intrinsic to the whole Christian life and foundational to the decisions we make on a daily basis. For, “the Gospel of God’s love for man, the Gospel of dignity of the person and the Gospel of life are a single and indivisible Gospel.

THE SIGN OF THE CROSS

The sign of the Cross dates back to the early days of Christianity. When you make the Sign of the Cross think

about it and what it means. Make it your personal profession of faith

...in the Father who created you

...in the Son who redeemed you ...in the Spirit who sanctifies you.
