The cures for Ebola, AIDS, and cancer are not amystery when known. Believe it or not, it’s not a science problem and does not involve a vaccinationsolution. It’s all about the politics and economics ofa medical-industrial complex that cares for universalpublic health just about as much as the military-industrial complex cares about global peace.

That 1919 Supreme Court decision was a turn-ing point in American judicial law. It openly allowedcorporations’ influence to supersede the first princi-ples of Constitutional Law and placed profits for thefew above the commonwealth of, by, and for thepeople. Since then, power has become even moreconsolidated for the super-rich who own corporateAmerica. As first voiced by Lord Action in 1887,“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

The tail is wagging the dog, folks! A pound ofcure is now worth 16 times more than an ounce ofprevention ever was. “Disease care” (another namefor our backwards health-care system) is no excusefor a clear conscience in the face of systemic corrup-tion that makes our public health uncommonlylacking in common sense. A timely example of this is the media’s over-focus upon and fear tacticsabout the Ebola danger that has captured everyone’sattention.

If we are what we eat, then the StandardAmerican Diet (SAD) has a lot to do with the current epidemics of cancer, diabetes, heart disease,

etc. But public health emphasis on disease treat-ments rather than on prevention has a lot more todo with these virtual plagues that are among us.(And obvious to most at this juncture, this scenariois made worse by the dismal depletion of our soilsand the consumption of processed, devalued food-stuffs pumped out by corporate-controlled chemi-cally-laced farming and food-production systems.)
