To stray away from the typical media features of a magazine I have chosen to differ in a few ways, but also still follow the codes and conventions. I have decided to use a live image for the front cover and use live pictures

as a special edition but also a basis of my magazine. I have searched

existing magazines and found that a lot use a variety of pictures but a lot use studio shots as the front cover or

dominate in the double pages. However I want to break this

stereotype and use live, in depth pictures as my magazine is portraying

a more realistic feel to new music. I want my audience to feel a better

connection rather than having most completely posed, I want them to

experience a new style which makes them excited to pick up and read but

also attracts them as it is very unique. However I have still chosen to use a few shots which are posed to follow

the basic magazine conventions.

Page 3: Question 1

I have used a live image as

a special edition to my magazine as

a live coverage, it is purely based on live bands performing.

Page 4: Question 1

As you can see, there are hardly any magazines who do this, however I have found one from

kerrang which shows a live shot of Billie Joe, the

lead singer from Greenday, posing live on

stage, we can tell this from his guitar, the

lighting and also the facial expression he is pulling is

not posed. I wanted to challenge the forms of a stereotypical magazine and do something which

you would not expect, this is why I have chosen to use a live picture for the front cover, however still having a studio shot as

another to show the contrast between the two.

Also finding no rock genre magazines which actually contain a double page for their contents I thought to take this up on a challenge and base mine with one. This brings even more originality and uniqueness to

Sound Check, making it better than others because it has more to offer and opens a whole new thing that hasn’t yet been done before. Addition to this I have

found that the use of new media is very important, so I have chosen to add a little twitter, facebook and

instagram feed on one of the double pages to show how the band interacts with their fans and also what they have been up to. I want my audience to feel a part of the band and their journey by using tweets

and pictures directly from them, this creates a bond with my readers that they are just like them, deep

down normal people who have twitter, facebook and instagram, which creates synthetic personalisation to

my audience.

Page 6: Question 1

You can see from these examples of how I have tried to communicate with new media and add a twitter feed, facebook, instagram and youtube all to relate to my audience and challenge the stereotypical forms.

Page 7: Question 1

New MediaHardly any existing magazines cater to this uniqueness and use of social

networking sites which are popular to my audience and something they also find familiar as they use daily.

There is also links to exclusive music videos and interviews on my pages

which create an online experience as well as material copy this would

make it more accessible as easy for my target audience to access as they are most likely to be spending most of their time on the internet. I have done this just for them as I want to include. However I have found that

recently they have tried to do this by adding pages of interaction such as

Kerrang mag, as they have started to give competitions towards readers

and using a twitter feed at the bottom. I have included this in my

contents page, as well as my double pages.
