Research and Planning

AS- for research we watched more opening sequences for films.

The Talented Mr Ripley, Cape Fear, Fight Club,

A2- for research we watched short films on the internet,( future states).

Used blog’s instead of folders so organisation skills were much better

Time management skills were much better

Ancillary tasks- had to research in to magazines and film posters.

Animated films such as Oktapodi and Toy Story that follow have the same genre ideas as our production.

Due to lack of organisational skills there was not enough research and planning done.

Researched Theorists and audience

Post – Production

Preliminary- editing- no sound, couldn’t flip the image and it was upside down. Couldn’t save. Used Adobe Premier Pro

AS- editing- sound was clearer. Transitions in to shots was clear. Wasn’t long enough, so the titles weren’t that long either. Used Sony Vegas Pro9Shots were unclear. Music was short.

A2- transitions in to each shot were much clearer. Used Sony Vegas Pro 10 Titles were blurry Voice over were a bit muffled. Reversed soundtrack to increase length

After many drafts – ancillary tasks completed from word to publisher – paint to word and then to Photoshop and then to Gimp 2.8

Using conventions from real media texts

AS- we followed the genre conventions for a psychological thriller but didn’t follow the character specifics. Had female representing the killer instead of a male. Majority of psychological genre conventions have male killers.

A2- followed the genre specific conventions however we had used stop motion instead of animation. Had a moral at the end of the film as is reflected in the films that we had been researching and looking in to so stuck to the conventions.

Preliminary – followed task set, used match on action and shot reverse shot, challenged it by using different locations.

Research allowed us to stick closely to magazine and poster conventions. Looked at the layout of the magazine and poster and followed the same ideas.
