Technologies that I used to produce my final product.

Microsoft office

I have used all the applications from Microsoft office apartfrom Microsoft Access. I haven’t access because it is usedto create databases which was irrelevant to my finalproduct. However the applications that I did use wasMicrosoft word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and MicrosoftExcel. I have used Microsoft Word (MSW) for creating thequestionnaire which helped me conduct research, for myfinal product, I have used MSW to create the article forthe double page spread. This application is quite usefulbecause you can use a spell checker that comes with thisapplication, I have used the spell checker for findingspelling mistakes in both my questionnaire and doublepage spread. I have used Microsoft Excel for creating thegraphs from the results of the questionnaires, this wasuseful because it gave me a visual indication of what theresults were like, instead of a bunch of data numbers thiswas good because I was able to judge what my audiencewanted and what they were looking for, just by looking atthe graphs. I have used Microsoft PowerPoint for creatingpresentations that I posted on my blog. I createdpresentations for my survey analysis to add some detailto the results that I have gathered from thequestionnaires. All of the application that I have usedfrom Microsoft Office were very useful for creating myfinal product. I was quite familiar with those applicationsbefore hand so there wasn’t anything new that I had tolearn when using it, this was good because my previousexperience saved me a lot of time.

Slide Share

I used Slide Share for uploading thePowerPoint presentations that Imade using Microsoft PowerPoint.In order to use Slide Share I had toregister for it which was easy.After uploading a presentation Ihad to copy the embedded codeand paste it on my blog when Iwas creating a post. Despite neverusing this online application, Ifound it easy to use, and I found itquite useful.

Adobe Audition 1.5

Adobe Audition 1.5 was used to editthe sound file that I recorded. Iwas recording the interview I hadwith the focus group. This isanother application that I haven’tused before, so it wasn’t easy touse compared with theapplications I used from MicrosoftOffice. Adobe Audition was usefulbecause it gave total control overthe recorded interview, forexample I was able to cut out bitsthat had no noise level, and otherbits that I didn’t need in therecorded file.

SLR Camera

On left there is a image of an SLR camerafrom different angles. I have used anSLR camera for capturing imagesdigitally. I have used other types ofcameras before but it was my firsttime using an SLR camera whencreating a music magazine.Throughout the production of mymagazine I have developed new skillsto use the SLR camera. The SLRcamera was useful because unlike anyother camera which gives you imagesthat are in good detail, SLR gives theimages great detail, the focus is sogood that there is hardly any chancefor your pictures to come out blurry.

Photoshop CS4

Photoshop CS4 is an application thatallows you to manipulate imagesthe way you desire. I have usedthis application for producing mymusic magazine. I have used asimilar application before whichwas Adobe Photoshop 7.0.However I haven’t it enough timesin order to develop skills to editimages. Therefore it took me a lotof time to get a good grasp ofusing Photoshop CS4 efficiently.

Blogger

Blogger is also a newapplication that I wasintroduced to. It lets youmake your own website. Ihave this application toupload my stages of workingon my final product. Thiswas also one of the easiestapplications that I usedthroughout making my finalproduct.

Edirol Dictaphone

This a device that I haven’t usedbefore, but I used for recordingthe focus group interview, and theaudience feedback on my finalproduct. I needed a fewinstruction on how to use thisdevice but then my hands weregood with this device. This devicewas very useful because for myfocus group interview I could haveused an alternative such as ahandy cam for recording theinterview, but this was mucheasier to use and it was lightweight.
