2. Which category below includes your age?

My results concluded that:

of my audience enjoys music intently, especially rap, so a focus on providing good music will be key. A few stated having an interest in

documentaries, so provoking thought and creating an engaging video are key.

General consensus showed that urban, dilapidated, or even isolated rural settings were thought to be conventional by the public. Skinny

jeans, leather or varsity jackets, high top trainers, work boots, jewelry and urban fashion trends (such as the wearing of bandanas)

Collectively, results showed that a strong focus on narrative is pivotal. A few answers stated that where before, Hip Hop music

videos were about the exploitation and glorification of wealth. They continued to explain how the industry had changed, and that socially conscious themes, sensitive topics, original concepts and controversy are more conventional of modern Rap videos than the stereotypical

“rags to riches” formula.

9. What do you like about Hip Hop?

Many stated that Hip Hop relates to them ethnically and culturally. A smaller percentage noted its rising popularity, increasing complexity

both instrumentally and vocally, and how it relates to the younger generation, acting as a form of social commentary.
