• 172 valid respondents

• Storm Surge– From the answers it can be concluded that about half

(47%) of respondents said that they understood “what a storm surge is”.

– According to the results of semi-structured interview, respondent did not posses an accurate picture of the event.

• Sources of information on the disaster– Over three quarters relied on TV or radio.

– OCD had distributed information to local media regarding the event, and that this was broadcasted to the population.

– The OCD also issued an evacuation warning, which was the reason cited by most for evacuating.
