Questions for Further Study 8 th March 2020 God is Almighty Ephesians 6:10-15 1. Read the following scripture: 2 Tim 3: 16-17, 2 Peter 1:21, Hebrews 4: 12. What do these passages tell us about the importance of the Bible in our lives? What other things can take away the time we could be spending looking at God’s word? 2. 1 Peter 5:8 tells us that Satan is just waiting for the chance to attack us. In what ways have you felt under attack recently? (This could be physical, mental or spiritual. Be sensitive to those who express fears and doubts.) How can the armour of God, and in particular the sword of the Spirit, help you? 3. The bible says He is alright (Genesis 49:25) the created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 14:19), He builds everything (Hebrews 3:4), He is the King of heaven (Daniel 4:37), God of all mankind (Jeremiah 32:27). There is only one God(Jude 1:25),He is a God who is eternal (Genesis 21:33), and He made all things (Ecclesiastes 11:5). God’s power is unlimited. He can do anything He wants, whenever He wants (Psalm 115:3). Which of these do you need to hear most right now? (You may want to have a list ready to help people if they get stuck.) You may want to pause to pray out praise, using some of the things you have discovered. 4. In Ephesians 6:15, the WORD of God is from the Greek rhema, which means a specific passage or verse. Has anyone got examples of times when a specific verse was useful or helpful when under attack? 5. We are in a battle and, like soldiers, we need to train so we are ready when we are called into action. Corrie Ten Boom said, “If the devil cannot make us bad, he will make us busy.” What stops you from reading the Bible? What changes can you make to enable you to read it more? (Perhaps download a Bible app, listen to Scripture in the car, sign up for daily emails, use the time you would normally spend watching TV/online) 6. Read Psalm 1:1-3. How can we meditate more on Scripture? 7. Read Psalm 119:11. When have you been able to use Scripture you have memorised? What tips can you share about ways to memorise the Bible? Choose one of the verses from question 3 and memorise it together.
