• Am I praying in God’s will?

• Is my answer God’s answer?

• What might God be trying to accomplish

in me?

Psalm 94:18-19

When I thought, “My foot slips,”

your steadfast love, O LORD, held me up.

19 When the cares of my heart are many,

your consolations cheer my soul.

Isaiah 59:1-2

Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save,

or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have

made a separation between you and your God, and your sins

have hidden his face from youso that he does not hear.

Sin hinders God’s answer to prayer

1 Peter 3:7

Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an

understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the

weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may

not be hindered.

Mistreating wives hinders husband’s prayer

James 1:6-7

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who

doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed

by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will

receive anything from the Lord;

• What is God trying to accomplish in me?



• Is God expecting me to do something?

Does God expect me to do something?

• He expected Peter to get out of the boat

• He expected disciples to forgive without excuse

James 1:22-25 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving

yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his

natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer

who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

What are we asking for?

Forgiveness?

Wisdom?

Growth?

Relief from anxiety?

Have we repented?

Have we sought counsel?

Study? Practice? Assoc.?

Examined our faith?

• What is God trying to accomplish in me?



• Is God expecting me to do something?

• Can I trust God with the outcome?

Psalm 92 1-2, 5-6, 15

It is good to give thanks to the LORD,to sing praises to your name, O Most High;

2 to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night,

How great are your works, O LORD!Your thoughts are very deep! 6 The stupid man

cannot know; the fool cannot understand this

…to declare that the LORD is upright;he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness

in him :

Psalm 23The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters.

3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod

and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow meall the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of

the LORD forever.

He is a tender, compassionate shepherd

What is happening when prayer seems unanswered?
