THS Baseball Coach Bruce Cahill Coach of

the Year

For the third year in a row The Miami Valley Baseball Coaches Association

has chosen Tippecanoe High School Baseball Coach Bruce Cahill as Division

II Coach of the Year This season Cahill coached the Red Devils to their 16th

conference title and reached a milestone of 500 wins

The THS Symphonic Choir made History

The Symphonic Choir made school history by performing in Class AA and receiving a Superior Rating at OMEA

Adjudicated Event on April 30th This is the first time any music group from Tipp City performed in Class AA

(the most difficult of literature) and received the highest rating possible ndash a Superior (I) rating Congratulations

Tippecanoe HS Senior Takes Top Honors For the second year in a row Tippecanoe High School senior Andrew Abboud

represented Tipp City Schools and District 10 of the Ohio Academy of Science at the

Intel International Science amp Engineering Fair (ISEF) The ISEF is the worldrsquos

largest international pre-college science competition which provides an annual forum

for more than 1600 high school students from over 50 countries regions and

territories (only twenty-two from Ohio) to showcase their independent research and

the chance to receive part of the over $4 million in awards and scholarships offered at

the event The 2011 Intel ISEF was held May 8-13 in Los Angeles California

Abboudrsquos project studied the effects of ultraviolet radiation on certain bacteria He

was selected as a Finalist to compete at the ISEF after successfully presenting his

project at the local District amp State Science Days earlier this year receiving Superior

ratings with perfect scores at each level

At the end of the week-long course of competition seminars and special events the

2011 ISEF distributed Grand Awards by category and Special Awards from various

colleges and businesses Abboud was judged 1ST PLACE for the Intel ISEF

Grand Award in the Microbiology Topic Category with a $3000 cash award There were sixty-five projects in

the Microbiology category and sixteen hundred projects overall Relate this to an Olympic Gold Medal in

Microbiology In addition he received 3rd place from the American Society for Microbiology receiving $750

and a subscription to the ASM monthly publication

Austin Hunter signed his letter of intent to Heidelberg College

At the CBC Conference High School Track meet Katie Landwehr established a

new conference record in the 800 by 3 seconds with a time of 21738 the previous

record was 22070 She also took first in the 1600 with a time of 51400 Katie

was voted the Most Valuable Female Athlete for the meet

Insurance Good Hands Award

The Anglerrsquos Club would like to congratulate our 2011 Angler

of the Year Devin Rose Devin took first place in the fall

fishing derby and has been a positive member of our club the

About the Harvey H Piatt Trophy The trophy was donated by Mrs Julie Maynard in memory of

her father Harvey H Piatt Mr Piatt was an avid

outdoorsman The Angler Club Trophy is awarded yearly to a

student who excels in the following areas Attitude Attendance and Achievement and a love for the

outdoors

Focus on Schools Jim Taylor from Troy Ford presented Mrs Staub and Jill Brown a

check for $500 for participating in the Ford sponsored program

called Focus on Schools The Ford Motor Company and Troy

Ford found a fun interactive way to encourage the creative genius

of high school students while introducing the 2012 Ford Focus

And they could win $10000

Troy Ford provided the class with a 2012 Ford Focus to use to

create a video starring the new Ford Focus

To Help Mrs Staubrsquos Digital Desktop Publishing class win the $10000 dollars vote for their video

Monday evening was TMSrsquos Arts FestMath amp Science Night Students exhibited

their art work and participated in an evening of Math amp Science Students made

many projects through art class industrial tech Family Consumer Science and

Great Shot Digital Photography Art Class

The Sixth Grade Teaches the Fifth Grade

Making the transition from one school building to another

can be a bit intimidating To help alleviate any anxiety

the TMS Sixth Graders gave the LT Ball Fifth Graders a

tour of the school The Fifth Graders also enjoyed lunch

at the Middle School

LT Ballrsquos Mini Relay for Life

Despite heavy storm warnings the rain stayed away until LT Ballrsquos Mini Relay for Life was wrapped up

After a week of Cancer education the LT Ball staff students and parents worked together to make the evening

long Relay a big success They event raised over $11000

L T Ball Teachers McClurg and Betz Retire

Fifth grade teacher Darlene McClurg and Art teacher Chris

Betz has decided to retire after many years of wonderful

service to Tipp City Schools

Congratulations to both of them as they move into a new era

of their lives

Nevin Coppockrsquos Kindergarten Tea

Nevin Coppock Kindergarteners will be advancing to

First Grade After a ceremony of singing four songs for

their parents Nevin Coppock Kindergarteners were

given their certificate of completion and they enjoyed

refreshments with their parents

Broadway Elementary says Reading Rocks

Reading Rocks For Right to Read week Broadway Elementary had a pizza party for all grade levels to

reward them for reading Some students even earned the right to put hand prints on the library wall To

help foster the love of reading Broadway held their annual Book Fair

Broadway Elementary Celebrate Retirements Helga Thornton Jackie Overbay Judy Crowe Marci Utt Barb Wright Ginny Havens have decided to retire and

follow their dreams They have dedicated many years of wonderful service to Tipp City Schools and they are

moving on to a new era in their lives Congratulations to all of them

Reminder to Parents of students who ride the bus We will not be able to take any daycaresitter changes

for the 2011-2012 school year (involving busing) after August 10th We will resume taking changes on

September 5th All students are assigned back to their home addresses each school year for bus

transportation We donrsquot assume they will be back at the same daycaresitter from the previous year

The first two weeks of a new school year are challenging enough for bus drivers without multiple changes for

students Thank you

Water Tower Construction - The city has started construction on the water tower and there are many trucks

utilizing Success Circle and the High School driveway The gate has been opened for the driveway between

the front and back parking lots The gate will remain open at least during school hours Drivers may want to

count on this gate access as an entrance to the back parking lot until further notice

Year

The Anglerrsquos Club would like to congratulate our 2011 Angler

of the Year Devin Rose Devin took first place in the fall

fishing derby and has been a positive member of our club the

entire year Congratulations Devin

About the Harvey H Piatt Trophy The trophy was donated by Mrs Julie Maynard in memory of

her father Harvey H Piatt Mr Piatt was an avid

outdoorsman The Angler Club Trophy is awarded yearly to a

student who excels in the following areas Attitude Attendance and Achievement and a love for the

outdoors

Focus on Schools Jim Taylor from Troy Ford presented Mrs Staub and Jill Brown a

check for $500 for participating in the Ford sponsored program

called Focus on Schools The Ford Motor Company and Troy

Ford found a fun interactive way to encourage the creative genius

of high school students while introducing the 2012 Ford Focus

And they could win $10000

Troy Ford provided the class with a 2012 Ford Focus to use to

create a video starring the new Ford Focus

Monday evening was TMSrsquos Arts FestMath amp Science Night Students exhibited

their art work and participated in an evening of Math amp Science Students made

many projects through art class industrial tech Family Consumer Science and

Making the transition from one school building to another

can be a bit intimidating To help alleviate any anxiety

the TMS Sixth Graders gave the LT Ball Fifth Graders a

tour of the school The Fifth Graders also enjoyed lunch

Despite heavy storm warnings the rain stayed away until LT Ballrsquos Mini Relay for Life was wrapped up

After a week of Cancer education the LT Ball staff students and parents worked together to make the evening

long Relay a big success They event raised over $11000

Betz has decided to retire after many years of wonderful

First Grade After a ceremony of singing four songs for

their parents Nevin Coppock Kindergarteners were

Reading Rocks For Right to Read week Broadway Elementary had a pizza party for all grade levels to

reward them for reading Some students even earned the right to put hand prints on the library wall To

help foster the love of reading Broadway held their annual Book Fair
