Section 4 - Secure the Wireless

1.Tosecurethewirelessconnectionusetheleft-handsidemenutonavigatetoConfiguration > LAN > Wireless Security.Theresultingmenuispicturedbelow.

2.Thesecurityisdisabledbydefaultandmustbeenabledtomakeitsecure.Clickthedropdownmenuandselectthefirstoption,WPA1 Pre-Shared Key.Thisistypicalformosthomeusers.

3.NowyouneedtocreateawirelessconnectionpasswordintheWPA Shared Key,andthenclickontheApply button.ThiswillbethepasswordthatyourwirelessdeviceswillneedtoconnecttotheInternet.MakesuretoclickApplyfollowedbySave Configtosaveyoursettings.

You have now completed the set up of your secure, wireless Internet connection!

Section 3 - Setup the Wireless

1.Usersmayself-configurethewirelessaccesspointintheBEC7402GTMmodem.Tobegin,themodemandallthecablesmustbeconnectedtoyourcom-puter/notebookperthediagraminSection1,Con- necttheModem.

3.Youwillbepromptedforausernameandpassword.Theusernamewillbeuserandthepasswordwillbeuser.

2.OpenanInternetbrowser,andtype192.168.1.254intheaddresslinewhereyouwouldnormallytypea websiteaddress.

4.Usetheleft-handsidemenutonavigatetoConfigur- ation > LAN > Wireless.Theresultingmenuispicturedbelow.

5.ClicktheEnable buttonnexttoWLANServices.Yourwirelessisnowactive.

6.Tosetupasecureconnection,dothefollowing:The defaultwirelessnameiswlan-ap.Thiscanbe changedbychangingthenamenexttoESSID.MakesuretoclickApplyandtheSave Configtosaveall yourchanges.

Section 1 - Connect the Modem

Your computer must be turned off in order to connect the modem.

Thebackofthemodemportsarecolorcodedforeasyconnectivity.

1.•AttachtheWirelessAntenna.

2.•PluginyourDSLline.(cableincluded)

3.•PlugoneendofyouryellowcoatedLANcableintooneoftheyellowLANports,andtheotherendintoyourcomputer’sNICport.

4.•Pluginthepowercord.

5.•TurnthemodemonusingtheOn/Offswitch.WhentheADSLlightstopsflashingturnonyourcomputer.

1.Ensurethatthemodemandallofthecablesareconnectedtoyourcomputer/notebook,andthemodemisturnedon.

2.Verifythemodem’sADSLlightissolidgreen.

3.OpenanInternetbrowser(ex:InternetExplorer).Ifyourdefaultbrowserhomepageisblank,pleasetypeavalidURL(ex:www.MyGSInet.net)toactivatetheEasySignOn.

4.WaitwhiletheDSLconfigurationismade.

5.HighlightthePPPoEoptionandinputyourGSInetusernameandpassword,thenclicktheApplybuttontoapplythesesettings.

6.Waitapproximately1minuteforthemodemtoconfigureandyouseethecongratulationscreenbelow.
