1. IntroductionThis guide assumes you have some basic understanding of your Zgemma box, how to copy theimageontoaUSBandhowtouseFTP(suchasFilezilla).Please take the time to read this Guide. The steps here are important. The vastmajority ofrequestsforhelparefrompeoplethathaven’treadorfollowedthisguidethrough.This guide now features 4 different options for settings up your channels – Please read thePreparationsectionbelowbeforefollowingtheoptionrelatingtoyourparticularsetup(Sky;Sky&Virgin;Virgin;orVirgin&Sky).Oncecompleteyourchannelsetup,youshouldcontinuingreadingtheguidefordetailsonhowtoaddyourlineandsomefinalsuggestedtasks.Everyoneshouldreadandfollowsections1through4.Thendependingonhowyouwantyourboxsetup and which providers (Sky/Virgin) you connect to, follow the appropriate section, beforecontinuingtothefinalsections.STOP–Thereare4waysinwhichyoucanrunyourZgemma.

Thiswill launch the IPabmenu.Within thismenu you can performQuick Start (for both Virgin and Sky), Correctly switch skins,including adding picons if youwish, Install IPTV subscriptions, run system and iPab updates, getinformationonNetworksettings,Drivemounts,swapfiles,importand/orbackupyourLineandjustabouteveryfixwe’veeverbeenaskedfor.Thisguidecoversalot,buthavealookaroundintheiPab.PresstheRedButton!

3. PreparationTheseinstructionsarebasedonWindows7–Yourexperiencemaydifferslightly.

PreparingyourUSBdriveThekeythingtoknowaboutflashingtheseboxesisthattheyareVERYsensitivetoUSBdrives.AUSBdrivethatworksflawlessonaPC,maynotworkwhenflashingyourbox.Forthebestchanceofthiswork,ensureyouuseaqualitybrandedUSBdriveandwherepossible,keepitlessthan32gbsothatyoucanformatitasFAT32.

• InsertyourUSBintoaspareUSBportonyourPC• ClickStartandselectComputer• FindyourUSBdriveinthelistofdrives.Makesureyouselecttherightone• RightclickonthedriveandselectFormat

HDMIcableandpowercable–EnsurethatatthispointyouDONOThaveanyUSBdrivesconnectedtotheboxatall.

4. FlashyourZgemmaboxSTOP – Before you proceed, it is assumed you know how to backup your line, OR that you areinstallingthisimageontoanewbox.Detailsareincludedattheendofthisguideonhowtobackupyourline.

• TurnyourZgemmaboxOFFusingthewhiteswitchontherearofthebox• InserttheUSBthumbdrivecontainingtheiPad.tvimageintotherearUSBport(Onthenew

ZgemmamodelsyoucanusethefrontUSBport,butforeasewewillusetherearporthere)• TurnyourZgemmaboxONusingthewhiteswitchontherearofthebox• ThedisplayonthefrontofyourZgemmaboxshouldsayBOOT,thenFLSH–Ifyoudonot

seeFLSHpleaserefertotheseeTroubleshootingsectionforassistance–Flashingtheimagewilltake5-10minutesdependingonyourbox.Pleasebepatient.

• Onceflashinghascompletedtheboxwillbegintoload.ItisVERYimportantthatASSOONASyourboxchangesfromFLSHtoBOOTthatyouremovetheUSBThumbDriveandswitchoffyourZgemmaboxusingthewhiteswitchattherearofthebox.

STOP–DonotproceedtothenextstepsuntilyouhaveremovedtheUSBThumbDriveandswitchedoffyourZgemmaboxusingthewhiteswitchattherear.

5. FirstTimeBoot• ConnectanyUSBdriveyouwillbeusingforrecordings,timeshiftandEPGstorageintothe

rearUSBport.• SwitchyourZgemmaboxONusingthewhitepowerswitchattherear• WaitforyourZgemmaboxto load(Thiswill takebetween1and2minutesdependingon

yourmodel)WhentheZgemmaboxhasbootedfullythefirsttime,youwillseetheVideoWizard,afterwhichitwilltunetoChannel4HD.IfyourboxdoesnotshowyouaworkingTVstation,pleasecheckyourcablesandrefertotheFullSetupGuidefortroubleshooting

UpdateToensureyoustartwiththemostuptodatesoftwareandplugins, it ishighlyrecommendedthatyoucompleteallofthefollowingupdatesteps

• RedButton>1>YellowButton–Thiswill run theemergency fixes toensureanycriticalissuesarepatched–Theboxwillrestartoncecomplete

SetCorrectTVResolutionTo ensure thewidest possibly compatibilitywithALL devices, theVIDEOWIZARDwill runon firstbootNOTE–Withanyofthesesettings intheVIDEOWIZARD, ifyousetasettingthat is incompatiblewith your TV, the screen will go blank, but will revert to the last good settings after about 30seconds

• SelectHDMIorRCA(DefaultHDMI)• Select the maximum screen resolution your TV will support. 1080p is the Maximum
