Since January, the JFSA &
PLAN art therapy groups
have been creang Con-
temporary art. The clients
have studied various arsts
such as Pollock, Kandinsky,
Warhol, Munch, and more.
The art our clients created
this year is so vivid and col-
orful and has been displayed
throughout Cleveland.
In May, an exhibit at the
Maltz Museum of Jewish
Heritage was open to
the public along with an
exceponal opening
night celebraon. A notable achievement
this year was our
performance art.
We used the “Heal
the World” song by
Michael Jackson
while clients held
the painngs (made by several clients),
which came together to show Michael
Jackson’s face. It was a touching display.
Also in May was our Fashion Show. We
strued down the catwalk and showed off
our duct tape clothing and accessories.
In July, we exhibited at
the ADAMHS Board of
Cuyahoga County, and
Elliot Morse gave a
small performance at
their board meeng.
We are excited to announce the next show
will be held on September 19th at the
Heights Music Hop on Lee Blvd. The event
will be held at the various store fronts on
Lee Blvd. between Cedar Road and the
Cleveland Heights Library from 5pm-11pm.
Our artwork will be on display at one of
the storefronts, and Elliot Morse will be
preforming nearby, in the early evening.
We are so excited for this opportunity for
Elliot and would love to see your support
of the art therapy groups by coming out to
the event and enjoying the atmosphere.

La Shana Tova! Happy New Year to my Jewish friends!
A REVIEW OF:
BLINDSIDED:
LIFTING A LIFE
ABOVE ILLNESS: A
RELUCTANT
MEMOIR
Hello, my loyal
friends! It’s me
again. In case you’ve
forgoen who I am,
it’s your roving
reporter, Marcie
Rosenthal. I’d like to say, “Welcome to
the PLAN family, baby Jack.”
This month I have decided to change
pace and review a book, as I somemes
do. The book I am reviewing is Blind-
sided: Liing A Life Above Illness: A
Reluctant Memoir by Richard M. Cohen.
Many of you may know he is the
husband of the acclaimed TV journalist,
talk show and game show host Meredith
Vieira.
The book recounts his struggles in
marriage and raising three children a$er
his diagnosis of Mulple Sclerosis (MS).
Mr. Cohen o$en states in the book that
he is not the same man that he was
before MS because his abilies are
diminished now. I think he couldn’t be
more wrong about that; he is the same
man who does things differently now.
He talks about some of the prejudices
that he went through with society a$er
his diagnosis, especially at his job as a
writer, journalist and producer at CBS.
Dan Rather was parcularly brutal
towards him and eventually helped lead
to his terminaon at CBS.
Mr. Cohen also describes troubling
situaons that many MS vicms go
through, such as falling in public and/or
in front of family or shaering a glass in
the kitchen in front of your children.
I would rate this book a 10/10. I can
relate to everything that he is saying
because of my illness, and I also lived
with a lot of people with MS. I loved
everything about the book. If you want
to know more, read the book.
A SPORTS REVIEW
Well folks, it’s me for a sports report.
Eight words for the Indians: “Clean out
your lockers; see you next spring!”
On a more posive note, I am loving the
Browns. They almost won the first pre-
season game (only lost by 3). I can’t wait
to see what’s next. Let’s go Brownies,
woot, woot!
Unl next month, this is Marcie
Rosenthal signing off!

By George Julien
If it’s the third week in July, it’s got to be
me for the Annual PLAN Picnic.
In a very real sense it is
a family reunion. It’s a
great me to see
friends, parents, and
siblings.
Our friends from across the
river even made the journey
to Horseshoe Lake in Shaker
Heights.
As far as the
food goes, Daryl
Musick, volun-
teer, dropped
the match and
was our grill
master with Gary Woodard’s assistance.
An interesng fact about the food was
that we had about seven different types
of potato salad, and more hot dogs than
anybody can eat.
My nephew Spike and I had won the
water balloon contest three years in a
row, but Spike wasn’t
able to make it this year
so we let someone else
have bragging rights.
Gary and Marieo won
this year.
So$balls, footballs
and Frisbees were
flying a$er dinner
even some enjoyed
Origami led by
volunteer, Lisa. A
great way to unwind
on a beauful
summer day.
Really strong gratude and thanks to
Jacquie for coordinang and making it a
happy, healthy and great experience for
everybody.
The picnic is a great opportunity to visit
with people who really care about you.

Ohio State Fair Day Trip on 7/29/15 It was a sizzling day with a heat index of 100 degrees. It was a sweaty, but good me!
The art building was a favorite, and we even got to see the judging of the duct tape art.
