Dominique P8

A difficult week-end for this GP at Phillip Island, hard tyres, lack of grip and wind were the ingrédients for a lack of feedback for Dominique, he never felt comfortable with the bike even with different set-up changes, P8 at the end of the race not the best result but has to be the foundations for a better recovery in Malaysia

Specifically built for speed and exciting racing, the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia is one of the world’s best. With four slow corners following two long straights and ten medium to high-speed corners, the wide track is particularly favourable to overtaking manoeuvres and plenty of open throttle. One of the longest laps in MotoGP is made all the more gruelling for riders by intense heat and humidity.

Five Moto2 and Moto3 Riders Head To Sepang With Eye On Title

Page 21: R17 pitbox 2014 Sepang

This year Sepang is the penultimate round of the FIM Moto GP Championships and the five riders who can take titles know that the Malaysian round is just as critical as the finale next month. Maverick Viñales won the Moto2 round in Australia last weekend, his third win of the year, but maximum points did not keep him in the race for the season victory with both Rabat and Kallio scoring enough points to make them the only ones remaining as potential champions. In Moto3 Alex Marquez, Jack Miller and Alex Rins have only 41 points separating them with fifty still available. Miller won in Australia and has won more races in 2014 than any other Moto3 rider but needs to overturn a 20 point deficit to Marquez to be crowned. The Sepang track is 5.5km with two long straights, ten right and five left turns. Malaysia is renowned for its climate with rain generally appearing each day and high humidity making the track feel slippery. Records were broken in both classes in 2013 and with the standings leaders on a charge it is likely that the 2014 specification tyres will see more fast times set throughout the event.

Tyre allocation and colour codes for Sepang: Moto2: Fronts 120/75R17, 3 x 123 (hard - yellow Dunlop on black) and 5 x 302 (medium - black Dunlop on silver) Rears, 195/75R17, 9854 (soft - black Dunlop on yellow ) x 5 – 195/75R17 9855 (medium - black Dunlop on silver) x 4
