IEEE Mission

The IEEE promotes the engineering process of creating, developing, integrating, sharing, and applying knowledge about electro and information technologies and sciences for the benefit of humanity and the profession

Region 4 Mission

Represent IEEE throughout our geographic area by providing excellent support to all sections, subsections, chapters and Student Chapters so they may in turn provide value to IEEE members

Section Mission• What is the mission of your section?

• Is it to provide VALUE to section members?

– must understand what membership ascribes 'value' to in context of career/profession

– you won't know until you find out– must assess needs of section membership - continuous process of gathering metrics

• You should create a mission for your section!

Expectation – Section Vitality• Offer events allowing members to network - HAVE

FUN (ExCom and members)!!!

• Offer technical programs/meetings allowing members to grow in their fields of specialization– distinguished lecturer program - world class speakers for

nearly free!!!

• Offer professional development (i.e. PACE) programs/meetings allowing members opportunity to grow in non-technical dimensions

• Establish monthly rhythm so it becomes a consistent, dependable dimension of nurturing member’s career

– ExCom tends to be tactical in scope, with little time left to devote to strategic view

– R4 has a Long Range & Strategic Planning Committee (LR&SPC)
