1 About RAC Go1.1 What is RAC Go?RAC Go relays information between your vehicle, the road and you to help make any drive, a smarter one.

How does it work? The RAC Go in-car device pairs with the smartphone app using Bluetooth, allowing you to access cost reducing features for you and your car. This technology is called telematics.

RAC Go is available for iPhone and Android.

1.2 I’m not an RAC member; can I still get RAC Go?No. RAC Go is exclusively for RAC members. For information on how to join the RAC, visit rac.com.au

1.3 Is the RAC Go application secure? The RAC Go app uses industry standard best practice security for all communication between our servers and your vehicle. This ensures that unauthorised parties cannot access your information.

1.4 How is my personal information and driving data used? The RAC will only use data collected to assist in improving the RAC Go product, future RAC product developments, advocacy programs and initiatives and any data used is de-identified prior to use.

The information collected by the app is held and used by the RAC in the same way as we hold and use your current membership information. For further details, please refer to our Privacy policy.

1.5 How much data does this application use?

The amount of data used by the app is largely determined by how often you use the services. Typically, it is expected that data consumed by the services will be no more than the majority of other online app services.

2 Features2.1 What features do I get with the RAC Go app?

2.2 What features do I get with the RAC Go app and in-car device?The RAC Go in-car device pairs with the smartphone app using Bluetooth, allowing you to access cost reducing features for you and your car. The device is easily installed near the driver-side dash.

Using the in-car device with the RAC Go app, you can also access:

Car health checkMonitor vehicle status data and discover faults before they turn into big, expensive problems.

Drive logRecord driving hours, distance and more to keep track of your journeys.

Driver behaviourMonitor how eco-friendly your driving is and compare it to other users.

2.3 How do I access the listed services in grey? RAC Go shows the full list of features available. If a feature appears to be ‘greyed out’, this indicates that you’ll need to upgrade to an RAC Go in-car device in order to use it. You can purchase the in-car device by upgrading your roadside assistance or by paying $99. Visit rac.com.au/racgo

2.4 Will the ‘Roadside help’ feature work successfully outside WA? Yes. As long as you're in Australia, 'Roadside help' will automatically direct you to the appropriate roadside assistance provider based on your location.

2.5 Why do I need to allow the RAC Go app to access my phone’s location? Many of the services are location based and will only work if the RAC Go app can access your phone’s location. The ability to use your current location allows some services to provide the most appropriate results and therefore most valuable outcome.

2.6 I received the message “location services disabled.” How do I enable them?

Some of RAC Go’s features are location based, and require access to your phones location to function correctly. To enable location services:

» iPhone – Settings > Privacy > Location services

» Android – Settings > Location services

2.7 How does ‘Car health’ work?If a vehicle is 100% compliant with RAC Go, the car health feature will be able to scan and report across your vehicle’s entire diagnostic system. In some cases the vehicle may only be able to report a limited range of things.

2.8 I have used the ‘Car health’ service and received a diagnostic error code. What should I do now?

Diagnostic error codes are programmed into your vehicle by the vehicle manufacturer and are unique to your vehicle model. Their purpose is to inform technicians of an identified fault within your vehicle. If you have received a diagnostic error code and are concerned, please contact RAC Auto Services on 1300 797 078 to make an appointment to have your vehicle inspected.

3 The RAC Go app 3.1 How do I download the app? Search ‘RAC Go’ in the App store or Google Play store and download!

3.2 Which phones are compatible with the application? The handsets currently compatible with the RAC Go app are:

» iPhone – 4, 4S, 5, 5C, and 5S running iOS 6.0 or 7.0 and above.

» Android – Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC M8 and HTC One on Jelly Bean and KitKat version 4.1 and above.

To find out the operating system of your phone:

» iPhone – Settings > General > About > Version

» Android – Settings > About phone > Software information > Android version

At this time, the RAC Go app is not compatible with tablets.

3.3 I'm a new member. How long do I need to wait before I can log into the app, or upgrade and buy the in-car device?

You may need to wait up to 24 hours after becoming a member for your access to be set up. You can still download and install the app before then, but won't be able to log in just yet.

4 The RAC Go in-car device 4.1 My in-car device hasn’t arrived and it has been more

than 10 working days. What should I do?Please email [email protected] with a copy of your receipt and we’ll investigate on your behalf.

4.2 Are all vehicles compatible with the in-car device?The in-car device is compatible with most vehicle makes manufactured after 2005. The list of vehicles that are incompatible with the in-car device can be found at rac.com.au.

4.3 Will the in-car device affect the running of my vehicle? No. The in-car device is only able to receive and read data from your vehicle and then transmit this data to your smartphone app; it can't send commands, prompts etc. to your vehicle or interfere with the running of the vehicle in any way.

4.4 What do I do if I have lost or damaged my in-car device, or it has a fault?In the event you have lost or damaged your in-car device or there is a fault with the device or app, please call 1300 139 174 or email [email protected]

4.5 How do I connect the in-car device to my phone?For information on this, please refer to the RAC Go getting started guide.

4.6 Can I connect multiple phones to the in-car device? It is possible to connect multiple phones to the in-car device but the phones must have the RAC Go app on it to access the services. The in-car device can’t recognise different users however so all data from the device will be treated as one user.

4.7 Can I connect the in-car device to multiple cars? You are able to move the device between cars however the device can’t recognise different users so all data will be treated as one user and one vehicle.
