Project Objectives
• Establish a Not-For-Profit Racquet Club to support and build an indoor tennis facility in Cambridge
• Manage the facility in a manner to provide affordable and accessible indoor tennis
Project Objectives
• Provide increased recreational options for youth (i.e. primary and secondary school programs), adults and seniors
• Support the City of Cambridge’s (CoC) mandate to provide healthy-living, recreational options for its citizens
• Convert underutilized land to improve the City (including local construction bid, local employment and facility use by residents)
The FacilityNon-Profit/Public/Private Partnership
• Accucam Machining owns the land and builds the ‘shell’ of the facility. Rent is paid to Accucam to cover building costs
• Public funding, Sponsorships and Club fund raising initiatives are used to support the completion of the inside of the building (courts, clubhouse, etc)
• NPO, Racquet Club of Cambridge, owns the intellectual property within the walls (all staff, programs, equipment, etc) and enters into a long-term facility use agreement

Status Update• Enlisted a Recreational Consultant to review feasibility of indoor
tennis facility and related operating structure
• Determination that a Non-Profit Organization was the most viable operating structure
• Discussions with Tennis Canada and OTA regarding indoor facilities
• Visits to more than a dozen indoor tennis facilities to benchmark best practices (reviewing their Operating Costs and Capital Costs)
• Hired Chu Architects to prepare Site-Plans and Preliminary Facility Drawings
• Meeting with CoC Planning Department to review issues related to re-zoning land
• Meetings with contractors to solicit bids for facility construction and determine preliminary capital budget
• Development of 5 Year Operating and Capital Plan
Status Update• Meeting with CoC Community Services Department to
review/discuss availability of city support
• Contacted Conestoga College to discuss possible College support related to the facility
• Contacted City, Regional, Provincial and Federal government representatives to solicit support for the project
• Meeting with bank representative to review finance alternatives for the facility
• Ongoing review of other funding sources – Sponsorships and Grants
• Meeting with the presidents of the 3 city summer tennis clubs to provide the clubs with an overview of the project and announce AGM timing
• Inaugural AGM of the Racquet Club of Cambridge

Board of Directors:
Have a hand in shaping the future of indoor tennis in
Cambridge!
Call for Volunteers
Some of the duties of the volunteer Board of Directors may include, but not be limited to:
• Fulfilling and staying true to the vision and mission statement of the club
• Assist General Manager and Club Head Pro in coordinating all aspects of running the club
• Work in conjunction with all board members to set the annual calendar of events, set rates and program fees, and set compensation structure and wages for all staff
• Financial positioning and reporting (including year-end reports, budgets, etc.)
• Assist General Manager with the organizing and execution of leagues and tournaments
• Continually seek and execute fundraising and sponsorship opportunities for future club requirements
• Recording and distributing minutes of all meetings• Liaise with other local tennis clubs and their BoD’s
