Radial Play Check – Tail Rotor Head

1Radial play between the inner sleeve (4, fig 6-1) and bearing sleeve (3) mating surface in blade mounting fork (2) must not exceed 0.2 mm.

2 Check for radial play as follows:

a. Secure the tail rotor head in the horizontal position by clamping the inner sleeve in a vise.

b. Position dial indicator (1) on measuring point 1.

c. Move blade mounting fork (2) up and down and note the dial indicator reading of the radial play between the mating surfaces.

d. Position dial indicator on measuring point. 2 and repet step c.

e. Rotate tail rotor head 9o about its centerline and repeat measurements at points 1 and 2.

f. If the permissible radial play is exceed at either measuring point 1 or 2, inspect the corresponding setaing areas on the inner sleeve and on the teflon fabric liner of the bearing sleeve in the blade mountinf fork according to para 308 – 9, and replace worn or damage parts.
