Reba"Consider Me Gone"Starstruck/Valory Music Co.

In the final CountryBreakout™ Chart

installment of 2009, Reba’s “Consider Me

Gone” regains the No. 1 spot after falling

to the No. 2 spot for two weeks. In talking

about her current Valory/Starstruck album

Keep On Loving You, produced with Tony

Brown and Mark Wright, Reba touts the benefits of scaling back. “I always

thought bigger was better, but I like the intimacy of staying out there

onstage with my fans instead of going back and changing clothes fifteen

times,” she says. “I like that fourth wall being broken. I like what I’m

wearing and how I’m wearing my hair. I wear my cowboy boots and they

are more me than any other look I’ve ever had in my 33-year career.”

Reba’s 2010 North American tour with George Strait kicks off January 22

in Baltimore and closes April 10 in Des Moines.

as timely as possible, the radio-oriented version of @MusicRow

(featuring the chart, data lists, etc.) will now appear on Fridays

instead of Mondays. We will no longer publish @MusicRow on

Monday, as we move to a twice a week schedule Wednesdays

and Fridays.

Secondly, there are criteria updates for our radio reporting

panel. Reporters will be expected to maintain between 35-70

currents in rotation, and only songs spinning 5 times or more

per week will count toward the current requirement. Songs

spinning less than 5 times per week will not be considered

in rotation. This will likely affect some of the current panel

membership, and announcements about panel departures/

additions will be made in early January. Additionally, panel

members will from time to time randomly be asked to supply

music scheduling logs to us for comparison and verification

of their submitted spins.

We thank you all for your support, and look forward to

seeing you in 2010!

Brad Wolf"Tan Lines"Warner Music Nashville

Singer/Guitarist Brad Wolf’s “Tan Lines”

has quietly but quickly been making upward

progress on the CountryBreakout™ Chart.

This week it has broken through, after a

gain of 71 spins, to become the week’s

biggest debut at No. 68. The Caryville,

Tennessee native originally came to Nashville

for a weekend, hoping to hear some great music, and decided to stay. His

formidable guitar skills and presence in Nashville’s fabled honky-tonks

helped Wolf land a publishing deal with Warner-Chappell, and later,

sideman gigs with Marty Brown and Vern Gosdin. A brief involvement

with Warner Bros. followed, during which Wolf released the single

“Strictly Business”—used to soundtrack parts of The Apprentice TV

show. Wolf’s major label deal ultimately didn’t work out but he is back

on the scene with a new team and single. “I’ve lived every emotion

there is,” says Wolf, “and I put everything I’ve lived into my songs.”

Power Chart Debut

Alan Jackson"It's Just That Way"Arista Nashville

It’s nice to know you can depend on some

things. Take Alan Jackson, for instance. His

steady, workman-like output consistently

puts his albums and singles in the upper

reaches of the charts and earns him

numerous nominations at awards shows. His

latest, “It’s Just That Way,” is slated to go

for adds on January 4, but CountryBreakout™ panelists have already

begun spinning it enthusiastically. The comfortable love song bears the

Jackson signature style and will appear on his upcoming 2010 album

release. Jackson’s most recent release, Songs of Love and Heartache,

was a Cracker Barrel exclusive featuring two previously unreleased

songs. The CD was part of the Alan Jackson Collection, a complete line

of merchandise including clothing, food items and collectibles,

developed around the singer.

Momentum Mover

In the final chart edition of 2009, we end the year with

Reba’s “Consider Me Gone” back at No. 1. Reba previously

had the No. 1 two weeks ago, but was interrupted for two chart

cycles by Dierks Bentley’s “I Wanna Make You Close Your

Eyes,” which slips back to No. 2. Positions 3 through 7 remain

unchanged, with Darius Rucker, Tim McGraw, Miranda

Lambert, Toby Keith and George Strait all still showing

strong growth.

Brad Paisley’s “American Saturday Night” and Keith

Urban’s “‘Til Summer Comes Around” are neck and neck at

No. 13 and 14, respectively. Both picked up over 200 spins,

and look to be positioned for chart domination in early 2010.

Outdoing both in the spin gains department is Carrie

Underwood’s “Temporary Home,” currently at No. 32 and rising.

As always, there are quite a few artists from smaller

independent labels getting some listener ears. Cody McCarver

has always fared well on this chart, and his “White Trash With

Money” moves up to No. 25. BamaJam Records artist Matt

Kennon is part of a larger (but still independent) label family

related to Stroudavarious Records. His song “The Call” is at

No. 30 and becoming a sensation at secondary and major

market radio. Just behind Kennon at No. 31 is Bekka Bramlett

with “What’s On My Mind,” a first chart entry for the

Shongaloo Records singer. Many other artists supported by

independent labels dot the top 40, including Houston

County (Stroudavarious), Burns & Poe (Blue Steel),

SingleTree (Big 7), and Williams Riley (Golden).

Tour launches in Reading, PA March 11 with Craig Morgan and Sons of

Sylvia supporting.
