And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the

world, and men loved darkness rather than light,

because their deeds were evil.

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the

unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of

them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light:

for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.~ Ephesians 5:10-13 ~

“Most Christians ascribe no negative significance to Halloween, treating it as a purely secular holiday devoted to

celebrating “imaginary spooks” and handing out candy….Most Christians hold the view that the tradition is far from being

‘satanic’ in origin or practice and that it holds no threat to the spiritual lives of children: being taught about death and

mortality, and the ways of the Celtic ancestors actually being a valuable life lesson and part of many of their parishioners’

heritage. A response among some fundamentalists in recent years has been the use of Hell houses or themed pamphlets

(such as those of Jack T. Chick) which attempt to make use of Halloween as an opportunity for evangelism. Some consider

Halloween to be completely incompatible with the Christian faith due to its origin as a Pagan ‘festival of the dead.’

I believe that this resurgence of interest in “paranormal” activity evidences the great success of Satan in alluring men into occult

religion. Popular TV shows and movies feature themes of divination, witchcraft, paranormal activity, and other supernatural phenomena.

Runaway bestselling book series portraying witchcraft (such as Harry Potter) and vampirism (Twilight series) are disturbing evidence of a

culture intoxicated with the occult. Occult symbolism and charms are displayed on trendy clothing and macabre themes of death, featuring skulls and tribal banding illustrate that we are descending into deeper

darkness in retreat from God.

Just as any culture can be understood by the entertainment they prefer and the stories they tell each other, we can study the culture

around us and determine that we are being assimilated into an emerging pagan America.

How should a Christian view his or her relationship to the subject of superstition, witchcraft, and

occult religion? Should we participate, be entertained by, or encourage our children to

celebrate the rituals of known pagan holidays?

I haven’t been able to understand how any conscientious Christian can find pleasure in any

entertainment, activity, clothing, or involvement with anything associated with the occult.

But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of

the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other

gods, and worship them; And then the LORD'S wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the

land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth

you.

… then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with

abominations provoked they him to anger. They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came

newly up, whom your fathers feared not.

in the depth of the sea.
