Ramadan Challenge Printing and

Assembly instructions... Printing Instructions

To get the best quality printing results, I can not stress enough the importance of printing onto Gloss

Photo paper!

It is cheaply available, I picked up a pack of 10 High Gloss Photo paper 230gsm from one of the pound

stores. I’m sure wherever you are in the world, you will find cheap stores selling similar too.

Printing onto photo paper massively improves the quality of your print, giving a professional, vibrant and

clear finish.

I would recommend printing the pages which make the board game onto Gloss Photo paper, and the

question cards either onto card, or again photo paper (printing the questions on the back of the sheet and

the decorative card cover on the gloss side).

The game has been designed to allow borderless printing- making game assembly much easier.

To print borderless, ensure you have checked the “borderless” box in your printer settings.

The design includes a page that can be printed on the back of the question cards to give a “real game”

look. It is not a must you print these, you can leave your cards plain if you like. But if you do want to print

the back, just print a sheet of questions on one side, and the card back on the other side.

Page 3: Ramadan Challenge Printable ... · Game play Instructions The Ramadan Challenge game can be played with individual players or as team players. (teams may be more suitable for younger

Assembly Instructions

Once you have everything printed, now the game can be quickly assembled ready to play!

If you have a laminator, I would recommend laminating the 4 board pieces. Run each sheet through the

laminator 3 or 4 times so that you can trim the edges without the plastic peeling off.

This is will then allow you to lay the sheets together so they meet to form one big continuous board.

Tape the board pieces together at the back.

Cut the question cards along their lines. If you have a paper cutter this makes this job quick and neat!

Once cut, place the question cards down on top of their marked position on the board ready to play!

Game play Instructions

The Ramadan Challenge game can be played with individual players or as team players. (teams may be

more suitable for younger players who may find it frustrating if they can not answer many questions

correctly, as being part of a team will help them to feel they are contributing and they will learn through

giving answers with their fellow team members inshallah)

Depending on the ages of the players, there are 2 ways you can play this game.

1. Only move ahead the stated number of places on the question cards if the question is answered

correctly. If a wrong answer is given, the player must stay still.

2. Move ahead the stated number of places regardless of whether the correct answer was given or

not. (this may be more suitable for younger players who are learning about Ramadan)

Find something each player can use as their position marker to travel around the board.

Place all the player markers on the start square.

Each player takes turns to answer a question from the question cards. Each card shows how many

spaces to move.

Each question card also has the answer – so it is not a good idea for players to pick their own

cards! Instead another player should pick their card and read them the question.

The first player to reach the finish wins!

prayer) of E’id al-Adha and E’id al-Fitr

and then deliever the Khutba after as-

Salat.

[al-Bukhari]

Is the adhan called for the Ei’d

prayer?

No ___________________________________________

Narrated ‘Ata that during the early days of

Ibn Az-Zubair, Ibn ‘Abbas had sent a

message to him telling him that the Adhan

for the E’id prayer was never pronounced (in

the lifetime of Allah’s messenger ) and the

khutba used to be delievered after as-Salat.

[al-Bukhari]

When does the time for the

Takbeer of E’id begin and end?

It begins when the Sun sets on the

night of E’id.

It ends when the E’id prayer

begins. ___________________________________________

The time for this takbeer begins when the sun sets on the night of Eid (i.e., the night before) if it is known that the new month has begun when the sun sets, such as when the people have completed thirty days of Ramadan, or when it is proven that the new moon of Shawwaal has been sighted. And it ends when the prayer begins, i.e., when they start the Eid prayer then the time for the takbeer ends. [Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 16/269-272]

The prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص used to lead the people

in prayer at night in congregation in

Ramadan, however he stopped after a

few nights. Why was this?

Because he was fearful the night

prayer would become obligatory for

the people. ___________________________________________

Narrated ‘Aishah: One night Allah’s Messenger ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص

offered the salat in the masjid and the people

followed him. The next night he also offered the

salat and a great number of people followed him.

On the 3rd or 4th night more and more people

gathered but Allah’s Messenger ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص did not come out

to them. In the morning he said “I saw what you

were doing and nothing stopped me from coming

out to you, but the fear that it (the salat) might be

enjoined on you”. And that happened in the month

of Ramadan. [al-Bukhari]

How did the Prophet Dawud

?perform prayer at night عليه السالم

He slept for half the night, then

offer salat for one third of the

night and then again sleep for one

sixth of the night. ___________________________________________

Narrated ‘’Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin al-As:

Allah’s Messenger ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص told me “The most

beloved salat to Allah is that of Dawud عليه

and the most beloved Saum to Allah are السالم

those of Dawud عليه السالم He used to sleep for

hald of the night and then offer salat for one

third of the night and again sleep for its sixth

part and used to observe saum to alternate

days.”

[al-Bukhari]

What did the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص use to

clean his mouth whenever he got

up for Tahajjud prayer?

Siwak* ___________________________________________

Narrated Hudaifa: Whenever the Prophet

got up for Tahajjud prayer he used to clean

his mouth (and teeth) with siwak.

[al-Bukhari]

* The miswak (miswaak, siwak, sewak) is a teeth cleaning twig made from the Salvadora persica tree (known as arak in Arabic). A traditional alternative to the modern toothbrush, it has a long, well-documented history and is reputed for its medicinal benefits.

What is a Sa’?

A type of measurement that was

used at the time of the prophet. It

measured the volume of a food

stuff (not its weigh). ___________________________________________

During the time of the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص the sa’ was a specific means of measuring volume, known to the people. Similar to how in our times we know exactly what a 500ml measuring cup looks like; we use this measurement in our kitchens, restaurants, schools etc. A sa is a measure of volume, not weight. It equals approximately 3L (ie. Six 500ml measuring cups). ….Depending on the food item, the weight will be different, because all food has different weight. Is it correct to say the Takbir before the E’id prayer collectively as a group in unison? No, from the Sunnah is to say it individually.

____________________________________________

The congregational takbir is a newly introduced matter in the religion, therefore it is an innovation. And if the people do an act which opposes the pure legislation, it is obligatory to prevent them from doing so and to refute them. Worship must be derived from revelation, only that which the Qur’an and the Sunnah point to is considered legislation. As for the statements and opinions of men, there is no evidence in them if they oppose the legislative proofs…That which is legislated concerning the takbir is that each Muslim says the takbir in a manner that has been narrated (and that they say it) individually. For the one who is elderly or in a

state of permanent illness, is it

obligatory that they fast?

No ___________________________________________

However it is a must for them to replace (the

daily) fast with feeding a poor person for

every day (which they missed). This is

because Allah has made feeding a

replacement for fasting and gave the believers

fasting was first legislated. Therefore, if you

are unable to fast you should ransom your

day of fasting by feeding a poor person.
