RAMP SPRING INSTALLATIONPlease contact your Towmaster Inc. Authorizeddealer to install ramp(s) and ramp spring(s).Danger! Ramps are very heavy and can causeserious injury or death. Only an authorizeddealer should install ramp(s) and rampspring(s).

Cantilevers, ramps and springs may lookdifferent than what is shown, but the procedureis the same. Refer to the chart on the right forthe correct spring for your trailer.

1) To install or replace the springs on the rampspring assist, have a hammer and roll-pin punch andthe new springs handy. Two or more people is re-quired to install safely and properly.

2) Using the hammer and punch, remove the roll-pins from both sides of the ramp rod.

3) Lift the ramp straight up off the beavertail so thatit is vertical. This relieves the pressure off the spring.

4) Remove the springs from the rod by driving therod out from under the spring (but not completelyfrom the ramp and cantilever), and carefully remov-ing the spring from the keeper. Do this on both sidesof the ramp. If you are replacing the cantileversprings (off the ground assist), proceed to step 8. Ifyou are replacing the spring assist (off the beaver-tail), proceed to step 5.

6) After putting the spring in place, drive the ramprod into the center of the spring. Repeat for the oth-er side.

7) Insert the roll-pins, and repeat for the otherramp.

8) To replace the springs on the cantilever (off theground assist), you will need to remove the rampspring assist (off the beavertail assist) and the ramp.After removing the springs from the ramp, set theramp back onto the beavertail and remove the ramprod. Slide the ramp forward.

9) On the cantilever, remove the roll-pins from thecantilever rod and slide the rod out.

5) Determine which spring goes on which side of theramp. Slip the longer end of the spring into thekeeper and the hook end of the spring under theramp.

11) Note: You may position the springs on eitherside or both sides of the mounting ear dependingupon where you want ramp placement. Positioningthe springs between the outside ears will place theramps toward the outside for full load width. Posi-tioning them between the inside ears will place theramps toward the inside for a narrower load width.One spring on each side will center the ramps be-tween full outside and full inside load width.

12) Slide the cantilever rod back through the mount-ing ears and replace the roll-pins.

13) Replace the ramp and ramp spring assist (off thebeavertail) starting with step 5.

10) Remove the old springs and replace with the newsprings. The longer leg of the spring should be to-ward the bottom.
