ABOUT US
Ranganathan Society for Social Welfare and Library
Development (RSSWLD) came into existence in 2009. It
aims to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge and
information at the grass root level by setting up libraries in
rural areas. The society’s primary goal is intellectual
development of the underprivileged sections of society so
that they can avail competitive employment opportunities
and lead a dignified social existence. So far, RSSLWD has
established Libraries in two prisons at Lucknow and
Ghaziabad respectively and two i.e., Greater Noida and
Aligarh, are on the processing mode for bringing positive
energies to the inmates. Other than Jails, RSSWLD is
committed to sharing educational knowledge, as well as
deliver better service to the society especially for

From THE DESK OF PRESIDENT RANGANATHAN SOCIETY FOR SOCIAL WELFARE & LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT
The Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater
Noida & Bhubaneswar have been taking keen interest in Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR). By teaching our students a full course
on ‘Responsible Business’, we try to inculcate in them our deep
faith that no business can survive on sustainable manner if it does
not fulfill its social responsibility.
The Ranganathan Society Social Welfare Library Development
(RSSWLD) is a conduit which helps our institute to undertake
projects to help all those citizens who are from the under
privileged sections of society.
This financial year marked a significant moment for us in this area
of activity. We were able to conduct 14 activities in different
thematic areas.
Our landmark achievement this year has been the establishment
of Library in the District Jail, Lucknow. This endeavor was hugely
appreciated by everyone because the library set up in the Jail
helped to minimize the gap between inmates and society.
We commit ourselves to contribute our best in creating a caring
society and for this we need your blessings, support and guidance.
I request all philanthropists to come and strengthen our hands.

From THE DESK OF SECRETARY RANGANATHAN SOCIETY FOR SOCIAL WELFARE & LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT
I am extremely happy to share our piece of work with you. In the
year 2013-14 we conducted 14 activities successfully. I am optimistic
and confident that we will gear up our speed in the next year and
be able to cover many new milestones.
In this financial year we expanded our connect and good relations
with the different parts of the society and also received many
requests from various untouched sectors. Our volunteers and
team members are now pursuing their field research on
pertaining issues and their remedial measures. RSSWLD is now
committed to building a new image of India in the world map.
I take this opportunity to thank each and every individual, past and
present volunteers and well-wishers, who were involved with the
development and progress of the RSSWLD. Without their
committed support and sustained efforts, we could not have
achieved so much.
With best wishes!

ACTIVITIES AT A GLANCE
Library Establishment at District Jail, Lucknow (UP) :- A good book is a good
friend, teacher and company. Prisoners required the same information as
required in regular society, but with a greater number of them having low
education skills, they experience difficulties in articulating their information
needs or in their attempts to seek information. On 25th May 2013 an NGO
Ranaganathan Society for Social Welfare & Library Development with the
financial support of Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida
inaugurated “BIMTECH Pustakalaya” in District Jail, Lucknow for the prison
inmates. The library was inaugurated by Shri Rajesh Pratap Singh, ADG, Dr.
Harivansh Chaturvedi, BIMTECH & President, RSSWLD, Shri Dadhiram Morya,
Suypritendent and Dr. Sharad Kulshreshth. On this occasion Ranaganathan
Society and BIMTECH, Greater Noida donated around 2500 books, 4 computer,

RANGANATHAN SOCIETY FOR SOCIAL WELFARE & LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT
Library is a growing organism that requires constant positive changes to meet the need of its user. The invention of computer
has brought in a rapid change in the society. Therefore, automation has become the need of the hour. Library automation not
only improves the image of the library staff but also provides additional services to the users with the existing staff.
A need of the society was felt- amongst many senior citizens of NCR as there was hardly any interaction between them. They
were suffering from loneliness which is most dreaded disease in old age. We all have a common desire to come together and
share the joys and grief of each other. Motivated by this sprit a society was founded in the year 2006 and got registered on 19th
July 2007 under society Registration Act. 1860 with Registrar of Societies, Govt. of NCT of Delhi with name of society “Varishtha
Nagrik Samaj”. The society (Varishtha Nagrik samaj) is a non - profit, non - political and secular organization in nature. Its
Registered Office is in New Delhi and working office in Greater Noida. Shri H.C. Gupta, General Secretary of the organization
came to know through local news papers about RSSLWD endeavors regarding development of the libraries he immediately
came and urged to Dr. Rishi for automation on 02nd September, 2013. Society has accepted his request and RSSWLD Team
members Mr. Subhash, Mr. Naqi and Ms. Tanu have done a remarkable job for them.
