Term 1 Week 6
Congratulations to Mrs Makepeace on being appointed Assistant Principal at Hanwood Public School, starting in Term 2. We are extremely unfortunate to farewell Mrs Makepeace and her expertise but wish her well in this new exciting role. A replacement for Mrs Makepeace is currently being arranged and more information will be provided soon.

Premier’s Reading Challenge
The 2020 PRC begins on Monday 2nd March. All students are encouraged to participate in the PRC. The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. Our school library has a large range of PRC books available for students to borrow and read.
Year 3 – 6 News
During Week 5, 3-6 have been writing persuasive texts. They have had to persuade a friend to try out for a sport they may not have participated in before. They've worked so hard and their texts are sounding great. There are some excellent arguments and their persuasive language is strong.
We have also been looking at budgets and have been given the task of designing a nature park and choosing certain equipment that we would like to add. We have had to work out what the cost is and whether we have used our budget or whether we have money left over to spend. The nature parks are looking amazing and we are being very careful with our money, mostly we are under budget!

Spring in the Springs To the Rankins Springs community, The Spring in the Springs committee is busy planning the next event for our little town! Which is to be held on the SECOND weekend of October this year (10/10/2020). As a committee, we have decided to ask if there are any community groups that would like to take over the running of the wonderful ‘Food Hut’. For the last two years we have organised the stalls and the menu, and community groups have volunteered to run the stall on the day (or completed the massive shopping trip) to raise money for their groups. So, we are putting the call out to our fellow Rankins Springs Community Groups, would YOU like to take over the organising and running of the ‘Food Hut’ for 2020? The Spring in the Springs committee will work in partnership with the community group that chooses to oversee the organising and running of the ‘Food Hut’. The committee that takes over would be responsible for the organising and running of the stall, they would be the ones to keep any funds raised over the day. They would also still have the option to call for volunteers from other organisations, so that other groups still have the option to raise some extra funds for
themselves. This decision would be up to the committee that takes over the ‘Food Hut’. All information from the last two years will be made available. If there is no community interest in this proposal, the Spring in the Springs Committee will pursue other avenues. So that we can continue to serve yummy food to all who visit the Spring in the Springs event! If any community group is interested in taking over the ‘Food Hut’, or have any questions, please contact Zoe Chapman on 0419 095 461 or 6966 1297. Golf Club A general meeting will be held on Thursday 12th March 2020 at the golf club, commencing at 7:30pm. Agenda items will include debriefs of the Community Christmas Party and the International Women’s Day event, plus setting the social golf calendar for 2020. Please come along and support your golf club to keep it active in the community. Enquiries to Rocky, Scott or Ellen.
