TIC-TAC-TOE

Rassias Method ®

Tic-tac-toe and Strategy

A. Verbs

At the elementary level, students, using different colored chalks, play the game now

with “X” being equal to one verb and “O” to another assigned verb that have to be

conjugated. The student then forms a sentence using his/her verb. An incorrect

sentence means the student does not get the square. This can be used with more

advanced levels also.

B. Strategy

At the more advanced level, it could be used in a game of strategy:

1. “X” = objects made of wood found in a home

“O” = objects made of metal found in a home

2. In establishing contrasts:

“X” = open / up / there, etc.

“O” = close/ down / here, etc.

3. Attempts to escape:

“X” = boat / plane / car, etc.

“O” = leak / fog / flat tire, etc.

5. Matching animals, birds, flowers, etc.
