Completing the Quilt Refer to the exploded quilt diagram as needed throughout the following steps.

1. Using the 1” wood grain print strips, carefully press each strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together

to make 4 folded strips. Place a longer folded strip on top of the long sides of the Haunted Birdhouse panel with raw

edges aligned and fold toward the center. Pin in place. Repeat with the shorter folded strips on the top and bottom.

Machine baste 1/8" from the edge all around. Remove pins.

2. Sew the 2” x 40 1/2” black solid strips to the long sides of the basted panel. Press seams toward the strips.

Sew the 2” x 25 1/2” black solid strips to the top and bottom of the basted panel, completing the center. Carefully

press seams toward the strips, so that the wood grain flange lays flat toward the center panel.

3. Using the exploded quilt diagram for reference and orientation of the ravens, sew a 2” x 9 1/2” black solid

strip to both sides of two Raven Moon squares. Sew a 9 1/2” x 13 1/2” rectangle to a side, completing the top and

bottom borders. Sew both the top and bottom borders to the quilt center.

4. Sew a 2” x 9 1/2” strip to the bottom edge of (3) Raven Moon blocks. Sew these together, as shown in the

exploded quilt diagram for the left side pieced border. Sew (1) 9 1/2” x 30” Night Flight strip to the bottom edge of

this pieced strip to make the entire left pieced border, and stitch it to the left side of the quilt center.

5. Sew a 2” x 9 1/2” strip to the top edge of the remaining (3) Raven Moon blocks. Sew these together, as

shown, for the right side pieced border. Sew (1) 9 1/2” x 30” Night Flight strip to the top edge of this pieced strip to

make the entire right pieced border, and stitch it to the right side of the quilt center.

6. Stitch the (6) 2" x WOF black strips short ends together to make a long strip. Press seams to one side. Cut

into 2 each 61 1/2" and 46 1/2" strips. Sew the 61 1/2" strips to the long sides of the quilt center and the 46 1/2" strips

to the top and bottom to complete the top. Press seams toward the strips.

7. If using 42" backing fabric, remove the selvage edges from the backing pieces. Join the pieces on the long

edges with a 1/2" seam allowance. Press seams open. Trim to make the 62" x 80" backing piece.

8. Layer the quilt top with the backing and batting pieces. Quilt as desired. Trim batting and backing even with

the top.

9. Join the wood grain print binding strips on the short ends with diagonal seams to make a long strip. Press

seams in one direction. Press the strip in half along the length with wrong sides together. Bind the quilt edges using

your favorite method to complete the quilt.
