RBI & RISK ASSESSMENTSCrucial part of a RBI study is a risk analysis. RB-IT analyses the possible risks (likelihood and consequence of failure) and, based upon a risk matrix of all tank parts, an inspection interval is determined. This analysis is fully compliant with the EEMUA guideline.
DATA MANAGEMENT SYSTEMThe software serves as a data management system. Relevant data (such as measurement data, inspection reports, drawings and pictures) can be digitized and can be stored in the system. Convenient to keep various documents together, to secure these documents and for easy consultation of the data.
FITNESS-FOR-SERVICE ANALYSEAs a result of analyzing various structural load cases, the minimum acceptable thickness of the steel plates is determined. These calculations are performed automatically according to the API and the EEMUA guidelines. Also the settlement of the tank is extensively analyzed in 5 different settlement phenomena.
REMAINING LIFETIME ANALYSISIn a correct RBI study a reliable degradation model of all tank components is fundamental. Defining a degradation model requires ‘engineering judgement’ and experience is therefore important. In a sophisticated way this knowledge is embedded in the RB-IT software and as a result a remaining lifetime analysis is generated.
CONSISTENCYBy using RB-IT’s automatic report generation, an inspection plan is generated. In a consistent manner, measurements and inspections of all tank components are obtained and secured. This is not only useful, it is also important for determining optimally reliable trends and forecasts.
MAINTENANCE PLANNING & FINANCIAL FORECASTA regular RBI study indicates the maximum period before inspection will take place. RB-IT also indicates what needs to be done and what the expected costs will be. In an automatically generated report all information is published. The report can be discussed and can therefore be implemented.

Our specialists take care of the entire process of making a customer-specific handbook in which all requirements and local demands have been incorporated. In line with these requirements they also take the lead in adjusting the RBI-software. Performing these studies, writing the work instructions and the follow-up procedures, discussing the results in peer-reviews with the customers, are possible next steps. Our experienced and certified specialists will give their advice and judgment regarding the planned inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT). Last but not least, they provide training in order that the customers are able to conduct the RB-IT software studies themselves.
As a facilitator our specialist supports the entire RBI-process, also at refineries and chemical plants. This position implies collecting all relevant data, the planning of workshops, managing the action list and supporting the transfer to the inspection team. Reporting is an important part of the process. All knowledge and experience of the RBI study are combined and secured in an efficient inspection plan. This plan is fundamental to the operational implementation. A profound preparation and a correct inspection report are the key to success. Facilitation covers about 80% of the total RBI-activities.
