My Desire Plan

I plan to make $70,000 a year; I will focus on photography and graphic design. I will continue to create graphic/photographic designs and apply it to my portfolio. I will research and stay informed of the latest graphic media design. I plan to start-up a company called Bailey Design Studio, which provides designs, brands for small companies, document memorial moments and facilities space for artists and their work.

I will sacrifice my time and sleep to work on Bailey Design Studio. I will be confident about my work and display it in different art form. I plan to hire graduating students with graphic design and photography experience, a writer and a business consultant. While working full-time and completing my Bachelors Degree, I will build my portfolio and build lasting relationships with students and professors for future references. I will graduate with honors and apply for Graduate School. I will complete this by June 2014.


Executive Summary

Small businesses need photographers to capture special events. These small companies like Soul Day Spa, Bowie Playhouse Theater, Belair Mansion & Stable Museums, and Beall Funeral Home need graphic designers to create marketing materials for their events. Small businesses organize and plan their events months in advance. They want quality photos for the newsletters, newspapers, websites, and their archives. Bailey Design Studio will design the packages for their events and capture the moments.

While most businesses own their own small digital cameras, they are not able to take quality photos during demanding events. Most will forget to document the events or speakers and honor guests. At the end of the events, they are searching for someone who took some photos of the events, and they have are low quality photographs and memories.

Bailey Design Studio will meet the needs of these small companies and clients to capture the conferences, conventions; theatre plays, and memorializes moments, build brands. We will provide digital files of their design and photos available free on-line, or for a fee on CD. The companies will be able to share their design and photos with important clients and other professionals.

Bailey Design Studio is a start-up company, providing clients with creative graphic designs and photographs. We will design high quality advertising, marketing materials and document events. BDS will integrate photography and graphics into designs.

This business plan demonstrates how Bailey Design Studio will meet and exceed the needs of small businesses by creating creative designs and document events. We will establish long lasting relationships, because of our commitment to our customers.

We will grow at a 30 percent annual rate by targeting small companies, funeral homes, local theatres and event planners. Building relationships with the customers over the years will provide the funding for this business.

Goals and ObjectivesBailey Design Studio’s will be located in Maryland Science and Tech Park Bowie, Maryland. I will hire graduates that specialize in the field of arts and graphic designs as independent contractors. Our goal is to have a healthy, fun, and successful company that will service the community.

Bailey Design Studio targets local businesses, funeral homes, live performing theatres, and the growing Latin Community, since we speak Spanish. These businesses need photographers to capture conferences, conventions, and special events. We focus on reliable, valuable service, fun and creative services. We provide high quality designs in a quick and timely manner to exceed customer’s expectations. I envision it and I believe it. This plan will be accomplished by June 2014.

Company Locations and FacilitiesBailey Design Studio will be located in a Business Park, Bowie Maryland, in Maryland Science and Tech Park, a 2250 square-foot office space. We have 90% of flexible open space, plenty of storage, large conference room, kitchenette, close to public transportation and free parking. The office will be a modern, practical, and a green environment. The space will be lease for three years beginning at $1000.00 a month.

The studio will have a visible sign for auto traffic. Customers will enter a public area where tables are set-up, with photo books of our designs and photography. Couches and chairs will at the waiting area. A gallery will be set in a separate space to display art and promotional pieces. An office and working area will be used for assembling the final products. The studio will be divided into several sections for artists to rental for storage for their artwork or creativity. ProductsBailey Design Studio will assist our clients to advertising, marketing and document their events, keeping their designs and photos up-to-date as we create and capture the memorable moments of their business.


We will use the internet to post the digital designs and photos. We will post lower- resolution designs, if customers wish to prints the high-resolutions, they can order more prints from us.

BDS will include quality backdrops for portraits. The studio will be set up in an inviting and healthy environment. We also work off-sites and bring cameras and lights to the locations. It is very important to me that the studio represents the design and art that we create.

Production DescriptionWe will provide copying. Along with designs for We provide design for pamphlets, banner, brochures, book, magazine & cd/dvd covers, logos, menus and conference kits. We will provide photography for funerals, wakes, theatres, conferences, portfolios, and headshots.

FuneralsWe offer a keepsake book with photos of the wake and the burial. This is our specialty package, since this is a stressful and emotional time in our lives. As we morn our loss, we want to remember.

Individual PortraitsIndividual portraits are use for business websites, business cards, portfolio and headshot – theatre, and annual reports. We take the initiative to schedule an annual portrait for companies. PortfoliosWe will photograph your artwork, paintings, sculptures, and installations for your portfolio. You will receive high quality photos to include into your presentation.

DesignsWe will design cover for books, catalogs, magazines, and cd/dvds. The customer fills out a design questionnaire, which will help us understand their request. Base on the clients request we will send two unique designs. Once approved, we will deliver it ready to print as a PDF, TIFF, or JPED Format. We will offer the designs services, not the printing services. We will provide the customer with website for their printing services.


Rental SpaceThe studio will be set up into large sections. The sections will be rented to artists that would like to store the works or would like to work on their art.

LiteratureBailey Design Studio will develop the logo, store front sign, business cards, brochures, website and display ads. Our theme is photographs are moments in time, and designs convey its message. BDS will take the initiative to schedule photo shoots at the studio, or in our clients’ company.

TechnologyBDS will use the Internet to download the digital designs and photographs, we will gain new customers and provide added value, with high-quality, small file-size images our client can easily share with others.

BDS will use several digital cameras, computer loaded with image-manipulating software, Adobe Creative Suite. We will need maintenance agreement for the computer and software, backups of designs and photographs.

Market StrategyBailey Design Studio will sell to business owners, artists, funeral homes, college students, spa owners, community organizers, churches, event organizers, and writers.

Customers will purchase from Bailey Design Studio when the need to advertise, promote an event, prepare a portfolio, promote their business, and document events. The need to capture memories lasts for people’s entire lives, and business portraits require regular update.

Businesses will spend their money when they have it to spend, when the need to promote and when they are having an event. Companies who pay for professional photography want quality photos that can be use for their newsletters, websites, and company portfolio and office space. Business portraits need to be update regularly, since companies are always changes for the better. When businesses update the photos and their design it show that they are embracing the times.

Small businesses will be our biggest market for designs and photography. Small businesses will most likely have the means for professional photography. These businesses want professional designs and photographs to show their clients of events they had in the pass.


Bailey Design Studio will use a high-tech, high-touch approach to reach and retain clients for their ongoing photo and design needs. We will make it affordable and easy for them to view their photos and designs. Our rates are comparable to other studios, but we e-mailed digital files of our clients’ images for free and there is no charge for our calling service.

We will inform the public of our business by conventional advertising, yellow pages ad, direct mail to our target area, newspaper display ads for the first six months, and a website.
