RBS RBS 3202Concerned SoftwareUTRAN P1 SW packageToolsThis instruction is based on following (tested and verified) SW on the TC (Thin Client): Windows 98 (English version) including WordPad and MS-DOS prompt. Hyper Terminal Netscape 4.7 (English version) Java plug-in JRE 1.2.2 (English version) WS FTP ProCables required for the connections between the TC and the RBS node: Crossed Ethernet CAT-5 cable: RS232 (Serial) cable (RJ-45/Emily):Prepare the Thin Client TCP/IP configuration of Thin Client. The TCP/IP Properties window opens. Select the IP Address tab.The default node IP configuration set at the NPC is: IP Address 169.254.1.1 Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0The recommended IP configuration setting for the TC is: IP Address 169.254.1.2 Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0Set up Java Java plug in unit JRE 1.2 version C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.2\lib\securityPower on the RBS node Switch on the circuit breaker at the CU (Capacitor Unit).Connect to the RBS node.Ethernet connection The Ethernet port of the TC must be connected to the RBS ICF at Port T17*A, using a crossed Ethernet cable (See section tools.). The connection is used for FTP and Element Manager.Serial connection. The serial port (RS232) on the TC must be connected to the RBS at GPB BB-subrack slot 20 position A, Using a RS232 cable (See section tools.). The connection is used for terminal programe.g. Hyper Terminal.Hyper Terminal ConfigurationOpen the Hyper Terminal program and configure it for direct connection via the com port (RS232) on TC.Typical installation location:Start menu Programs Accessories Communications Hyper TerminalThe Hyper Terminal window opens. Double click on Hyperterm.Alternatively, open from:Start menu RunUse Hyper Terminal connection to read out IP configuration of the RBS node.

Command: ifconfig

Note! If no IP configuration is displayed go to section Load UTRAN P1 SW package to node.

If the nodes IP-configuration is not set to node default, go to the section Prepare the Thin Clientand configure the TC with an appropriate IP-configuration.

Check IP connectivity to RBS node. The purpose of this check is to verify that:

The IP configuration of the TC is correct. The node can be reached via Ethernet interface.

Use MS-Dos prompt to check IP connectivity of the RBS node.

Typical installation location:Start menu Programs MS-DOS PromptAlternatively, open from:Start menu RunThe Run window opens. At command line, write command and click OK.The MS-DOS Prompt window opens. Ping the node. Command: ping 169.254.1.1 Correct results see figure MS-DOS prompt.

Load UTRAN P1 SW package to RBS node.Format the RBS node Hard Disk. The hard disk must be formatted before loading UTRAN P1 SW package to the node. The hard disk consists of two partitions. They are named /c2 and /d in backup mode.

Use Hyper Terminal to format the node hard disk.

Restart node in backup mode.

Command: reload -- Format the hard disk partition /c2.

Command: formathd /c2 All data on volume will be destroyed. Continue? y/n (n): Command: y Repeat same procedure for /d partition.

Command: formathd /d All data on volume will be destroyed. Continue? y/n (n): Command: y

Restart node in backup mode.

Command: reload --

Set RBS node IP configuration. The IP configuration of the node must be set after format of the hard disc, to reach the node via FTP program and Element manager. The IP configuration consists of an IP address and a Subnet mask. Recommended IP configuration is the node default set at the NPC. Use Hyper Terminal to set IP configuration.

Command: ifconfig le0 169.254.1.1 netmask 255.255.0.0

Read out IP configuration.

Command: ifconfig Set RBS node password.Password must be set after format of the hard disc, to be able to use FTP program. The recommended password is rbs.

Use Hyper Terminal to set password. Command: passwd Enter new password: Command: rbs Re-enter new password: Command: rbs Use WS FTP Pro to download the software from TC to RBS node.

Restart RBS node.Use Hyper Terminal to restart node. Command: reload Wait for 2-3 minutes for the node to start with CV empty. Check all programs have been loaded (12 programs).

Command: pglist When the programs has been loaded, the green LED on the GPB board will lid with a steady green light.

Set initial Configuration VersionSet the CV that corresponds to the actual HW configuration in the node.Note! When CVs are delivered a list of the different CVs will be inserted here.

Start RBS Element Manager.
