From the Pastors Desk: Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord and Celebration of Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. On behalf of all staff and myself wishing you all the love Jesus, Mary and Joseph knew on that first Christmas night. May you and your loved ones share the peace and happiness of that love with each other. You and your family will share a special remembrance in my Christmas Mass. Reflection: Luke2, 46 – 51: He went down with themand was obedient to them. Today is the feast of the Holy Family. We like to think of the Holy Family as perfectfull of joy and problem free, but that s not really the case. Theirs is the story of a woman suspected of adultery, a man anxiously planning a divorce, and a family forced to immigrate to foreign land. Its the story of a couple learning how to cope with their sons unconventional behavior – something we read about in todays gospel. Its also the sad story of woman who first loses her husband and then watches as her only child is unjustly executed by the state. Yes, this family was holy, but it was also very human- dealing with human issues on a daily basis, just like us. That means they know our familys ups and downs as well. Here are some things when you think about the Holy Family: Your family is not ordinary in Gods eyes. Every family is special to him. Every family can make a difference in this world. Dream big, then try to do good for God. It really is possible for your family to be a holy family; just try to live in Gods love, and it will happen. Lord God, creator of all things, in your divine plan you sent your Son to grow and develop through the love of human family. May we follow closely the example of Saint Joseph and the Virgin Mary who freely gave of themselves for the establishment of their household. Watch over our families in your love. Amen. Amen.
