RE-ESTABLISHING A FUNCTIONAL WORKLOAD

My own worst enemy

Cue crazy talk

I’m too busy to figure out how not to be too busy

I don’t want to let them down

I don’t want it looming over my head, must do it now

If I don’t do it, no one else will

If I want it done right, I have to do it myself

I’ll just stay one…two…three more hours

I have vacation in July, I just have to make it til then

If I ignore it, it will go away

Methods

Mind mapping

Post it notes

Whiteboard

Wins

Increased awareness of what I’m doing to myself

Manage my time in advance vs spending it in crisis management

I have boundaries that other people respect

I am in a place to help my coworkers with their load

I am happy to adapt to today’s “crazy” because I know how to rejig my to-do list, I don’t have to pile on top of it

I love my job
