Let me say, Welcome to Houston if you are planning to re-locate here.

Houston’s a friendly city, with lots of diversity. It is the 4th largest metro in the nation, with a vibrant oil-based economy and medical center that are the heart of Hous-ton’s jobs.

Houston’s Daily calendar:www.houstontx.gov/events

<< These are the main highways around Houston. Beltway 8 is a Tollway. Airports are identified.

If you notice, Beltway 8 and 610 Loop are laid out as squares. They intersect with other major highways like I-10 (< west to San Antonio and east > to Beaumont), Highway 59 (going North to Kingwood and South to Victoria), I-45 (north to Dallas and south to Galveston), and Highway 290 going North West to Austin. Highway 288 goes South past Highway 6, past Angleton to Clute and Freeport, Texas where the Gulf of Mexico lies.

This is an old map of Houston from 1954 com-missioned by Chevron. A piece of history, if you will, this is one of the earliest maps of Houston as one District. >>>

Houston has lots of museums to see, it celebrates arts through its many theaters, it has the SPACE center at NASA, cooking festivals through out the year, the Rodeo with its cattle, music shows and varieties of food once a year, its 4,000+ restaurants and nightlife bars, (unofficial 17,000 restaurants and growing), the San Jacinto memorial, the Hous-ton Race Park, the Houston zoo, Downtown to roam, Woodlands, Lake Conroe, (North of Houston) and to the South of Houston are the Kemah boardwalk (with its many restau-rants) Moody Gardens, Gulf Greyhound Park and Galveston beach to go relax. Further beyond (a 1 hour plus drive north of Houston) is Lake Jackson, where people go to speed boat, fish and have picnics. Houston always has something to do, so there’s no dearth of activity.

Houston has developed fast, and because of this, suburbs have become cities. Sugar Land, Missouri City, Pearland, Cypress, Katy, Friendswood (area), Richmond, are getting to become noted cities or (in between transition to cities) that house families who work and trade (do business) in Houston.

Baytown to the far east >>> (right middle of the map) has Oil industries and refineries.

A view of Downtown from Highway 288 and 59 area.

Downtown houses offices to major companies, historical buildings, government of-fices. There is lots to see and experience in Downtown, Houston.

The color coded areas within the 610 loop mention the dif-ferent neighborhoods. These are some of the priciest zip codes in Houston. Rice has historical buildings and the famous Rice University.

If you look carefully you can see black lines on this map dividing the various counties in Houston.

With development picking up fast pace, we have Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Montgomery, Galveston, Liberty, Waller, Austin, San Jacinto and Chambers Counties.

Parts of Pearland city, for example is shared by Fortbend and Brazoria counties.

I work mainly in the Fort Bend, Brazoria and Harris counties.

Lakewood church is at the heart of Houston which also sees many visitors every weekend.(Lakewood church is marked +)

* There are plenty of churches which are not marked on this map. Simply Google a church or temple by its denomination is the easiest way to go.
