About a year ago, Adelaida was taken to the hospital with se-vere chest pains. She was told
by her doctor that she had a life threatening heart condition and was not given much hope. While lying in the hospital bed, she turned to the One that could give her true hope and began praying to God to heal her. Over the next few days, she became more confident in her faith that God would heal her. She began to read passages of scripture and share her faith with the nurses who came to check on her. One day, the doctor came in to her room amazed at her improved condition. It was not long until the doctor released her from the hospital completely healed! Adelaida believes God extended her life for a purpose and promised God that she would learn all she could about the Bible and share it with others. When she heard about our Christian training program being offered in her area, she said, “I knew
this training program was for me. I had to make a way to enroll.” Five months into the ten month program, her determination to excel in her studies is putting her at the top of the class. Students like Adelaida are the reason we are providing Chris-tian training in the remote areas of the Philippines. We look forward to seeing her continued growth in the Lord and the results of sharing the Good News with others.
Reaching the isolated and the underserved in the Philippines through medical care.
Reach International Healthcare and Training Inc.
May - June 2017
The Work Continues God has truly been blessing Reach International with many new partners and groups in the Philippines. We have been financially blessed for several of our projects and for that we are very thankful to you. However, our monthly income for this year has not been adequate to cover our expenses. Myself and Ian are presently in the midst of promotions in the US. Please be in prayer that our support will increase to allow Reach to continue to main-tain the level of educational programs and medical relief that we have committed to. The Australian team of 20-25 medical student are still scheduled for Dec 2017 but since Mindanao is currently under Mar-tial Law, we have had to change some locations to safer areas. Please be in prayer for the Philippines as the battle continues and the death toll has risen to more than 400. God bless.

In the midst of Martial Law, there is no stop-ping to where God wants us to be. Anxiety was creeping in me as we travelled to the Magu-indanao Province with just me, Dr. Sam and
Pastor Keith last May 31st. In partnership with Care Chan-nels International (CCI), we went to a remote place called Tubak, Ampatuan, Province of Maguindanao. This Barangay is located behind the province’s mountain ranges and is inhabited mostly by Teduray and Bagobo tribes. We left Davao at 8:00 am but arrived in the community by 9:30pm. A supposedly seven-hour journey became a long thirteen hour humbling experience. It is because we encountered a total of eleven landslides going into the community. Big trees as wide as the road were blocking our way. Clearly the road is not conducive for driving, so we decided to
leave our vehicle somewhere safe and walked until a farming truck gave us a short ride and then again we had to walk the last leg of the journey. We had to walk through a thick knee-high mud from the eroded mountain soil with sharp stones beneath. Weaken flashlights were all we had. No streetlights, not much houses, and rain was drizzling. We are in the woods. God is good all the time. We arrived safely in the community where we slept on the floor of a barely finished health center. The following morning, we set up clinic and saw patients from smaller villages further away. You could tell that the community needs medical attention as some patients were suffering from poor wound care, bleeding ulcers and lack of hygiene. One patient was bitten by some dog two weeks prior. Her finger was badly swollen and showing signs of necrosis. We soaked it for a while, cleaned and debris and put a good dressing on it. We saw a total of 152 patients that day and left the com-munity that afternoon. On the way out we had a terrifying experience with a landslide happening right where we were walking. We had to run for our lives at one point as we heard crackling of branches over us and watched the soil erode. Praise the Lord for His divine protection upon our team that we were able to do more over the next two days, in two different remote areas in Magu-indanao working with local churches. By His grace they were able to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of 426 patients in three different villages. Indeed God sustains when He ordains!
