Insects are everywhere! Ants, beetles, flies, wasps, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, grasshoppers, mosquitoes and bees are all types of insects. They have three body parts: a head, thorax and abdomen. They also have three-jointed legs and a pair of antennae which they use for finding food and other insects. Insects are invertebrates which means they do not have a backbone. They breathe through holes called spiracles. Insects have amazing eyes, they are different to yours. Some insects have eyes that have thousands of lenses. It must be hard to sneak up on an insect! Insects lay eggs which hatch after some time. Some insects live for just a few days, others may live for a few years. Insects were around before the dinosaurs. There are over a million different types of insects in the world and not all of them have been discovered yet! They make up more than half of all living things in the world. Questions: 1.
