General =========HTRI Xchanger Suite 7 is an integrated set of components for designing and rating different types of heat transfer equipment. The suite consists of a Microsoft Windows Graphical User Interface (GUI) and a set of calculation modules for shell-and-tube exchangers (Xist), hairpin exchangers (Xhpe), jacketed pipe exchangers (Xjpe), air-cooled exchangers (Xace), economizers (Xace), fired heaters (Xfh), plate heat exchangers (Xphe), and spiral heat exchangers (Xspe), as well as rigorous vibration analysis of a single tube (Xvib), and heat exchanger selection.Additional calculation modules will be available in the future. System Requirements for Xchanger Suite 7 ============================================ - Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows 8 operating system - 32- or 64-bit processor - 512 MB RAM for Microsoft Windows XP/2003; 1 GB RAM for Windows Vista/7/2008/8 - Up to 500 MB available hard drive space for the selected modules - SVGA (800 x 600 resolution) or higher graphics adapter and displayWindows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 Users: HTRI Xchanger Suite 7 has been tested and runs successfully on the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.Windows NT/95/98/Me/2000 Users: Microsoft no longer supports Windows NT/95/98/Me/2000. HTRI Xchanger Suite 7 is not supported on these older Microsoft operating systems. Administrative Permissions ============================Installation of HTRI Xchanger Suite 7 requires administrative privileges. If you attempt to install or uninstall without administrative privileges, the installation / uninstallation stops. After installation, the program runs using standard user privileges. eLibrary 2.0.6 Now Included with Xchanger Suite 7 ===================================================HTRI eLibrary is required to access the HTRI Member Center Website (http://www.htri.net) and view secured HTRI files (HDOC files). HTRI eLibrary is now installed with Xchanger Suite 7. If you choose to install eLibrary, the installer automatically removes older versions of eLibrary (version 2.0.4 and earlier). HTRI eLibrary will be uninstalled whenXchanger Suite 7 is uninstalled.HTRI eLibrary opens the door to a wealth of information on state-of-the-art technology in heat transfer and fluid flow, reflecting over 50 years of proprietary research. It provides access to HTRI publications, the HTRI Design Manual, technical bulletins, technical reports, software documentation, and much more. HTRI premium content is available to member companies based on the level of membership. For questions about membership level, contact [email protected]. Previous Versions of Xchanger Suite =====================================Different versions of HTRI Xchanger Suite can exist side-by-side. Xchanger Suite versions 5, 6, and 7 can be installed on the same computer, allowing you to run cases in current and previous versions. To use multiple versions, they must all be installed to the same ROOT folder, such as C:\HTRI or C:\Program Files\HTRI. Only one installation of each major version is allowed at a time, so you cannot have multiple installations of a single version number. Network (Red NetHASP) Device Users ====================================Xchanger Suite 7 requires a newer version of the Sentinel HASP Device Driver to be installed on the License Server where the red key is attached. To install the updated driver on the License Server, run HASPUserSetup.exe from the Xchanger Suite 7 installation media. Previous versions of Xchanger Suite and eLibrary will continue to work with the new device driver.Unlike the older Xchanger Suite 6, Xchanger Suite 7 does NOT use a NETHASP.INI file.In order to tell the client PC where to find the License Server, use the following steps:1. On the client computer, open a web browser and go to http://localhost:1947. On the left side, select Configuration, then click the Access to Remote License Managers tab. 2. Verify that Allow Access to Remote Licenses and Broadcast Search for Remote Licenses is checked. 3. In the Specify Search Parameters box, add the IP address or DNS name of the License Server where the red key is attached. 4. Click SUBMIT and wait 2 full minutes for the changes to take effect. The Internet portion of eLibrary 2.0 still uses a nethasp.ini file. If your License Serveris in a different subnet or VLAN from the client computer, use a nethasp.ini file to tell Internet Explorer where to find the License Server. A sample nethasp.ini file is on the Xchanger Suite 7 installation media. Edit the line NH_SERVER_ADDR= to the IP Address or fully qualified server name of your License Server. Then, save the file to each client computer in the C:\Windows\System32 folder (or C:\Windows\SYSWow64 for 64-bit operating systems). Security Device Driver Installation =====================================The HASP device driver is now required for all installations, no matter what type of license is used. If you already have a newer HASP device driver or do not wish to reinstallthe driver, uncheck the HASP SRM Driver during installation. Shared FileServer Client Installation =======================================After the software is installed for a shared fileserver, the clients must run SetupHXS7-Client.exe in the HXS7-Client directory. Note that the client is not allowed tochoose the HTRI Xchanger Suite components to install. Those installed in the shared network installation are automatically selected. HTML-based Help Files =======================HTRI Xchanger Suite 6 and 7 use a new help system format (WebHelp). This new format isbrowser-based and displays in your default internet browser. HTRI recommends using Internet Explorer 6.0 and later, but Firefox 3 and later should also work. Enable JavaScript forbest results. No Print Preview for Multiple Cases =====================================You cannot request a print preview for more than one case at a time. File Installation Log =======================A text file "HXSFileset.bin" (stored in the HTRI Xchanger Suite folder) lists all Xchanger Suite 7 files installed on your computer system. This file is useful for troubleshooting installation issues. If you do not wish to write the installation trace log, run Setup.exe from the command line as Setup.exe /NOTRACEDoing this makes the installation slightly faster at the expense of troubleshooting capability. Silent Installations ======================HTRI does not support silent or rescripted installations or uninstallations. HTRI typically recommends against silent installations because the InstallShield response file mechanism is not very flexible for handling variant systems. Therefore, we cannot guarantee success with a silent install. However, HTRI products do have options to create a silent install. Running "setup.exe -r" creates a .ISS response file. A response file contains the information that an end user would enter as responses to dialogs when running a normal setup. The .ISS file is a plain text file. "setup.exe -r" records your setup choices in a file named "setup.iss". You may need to search the computer for the location of this file after its creation. To use the setup.iss file to install silently, place the setup.iss file in the same folderas the installer executable (setup.exe), and run the setup with the "Setup.exe -s" parameter.A "Setup.log" file is created that captures setup information, including whether the installation was successful. Please check this log to be sure the installation worked. For more information about the setup.iss file and silent installations, please see http://kb.flexerasoftware.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalID=Q101901 System Registry Correction ============================The \HTRI\Shared folder contains a batch file named "FixRegistry.bat". This batch file registers all the self-registering files distributed with Xchanger Suite 7. Note that the installation program automatically handles the registration of the files-this batch file is intended for remedial purposes only if the installation program fails or the system becomes corrupt during operation. For more information on HTRI Xchanger Suite 7, select the Help Topics item on the HTRI Xchanger Suite Help menu.============================================================================= --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frequently Asked Questions ---------------------------------------------------------------------------=============================================================================-----------------------------------------------------------------------------The installation is asking for a Product Code. What is my Product Code? The Product Code is a 16-character long code in the form XXXXX - XXXXXX - XXXXX The Product Code is sent via email to each of our Member Companies. If you have a valid product code for eLibrary, the same product code works for Xchanger Suite 7. Once Xchanger Suite 7 or eLibrary 2 is installed, the Product Code is auto- filled for subsequent installations. You should not need to type it again. If you do not know or cannot find your company's Product Code, send an email to [email protected] requesting the Product Code. Include your full registered company name, address, and country for a faster response.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------When starting Xchanger Suite, I see an error message: "Xchanger Suite was unable to find a valid license". What do I do? Xchanger Suite performs a check for a valid security device when starting the program. This message indicates that it could not find the security device or could not get a proper license to run. 1. Verify that you have a valid local TimeHASP key attached to your USB port. Try moving the device to a different port. 2. Contact your network administrator to make sure that you have a valid NetHASP installed on your network. 3. Run the HTRI License Manager utility from the Start Menu, and verify that your computer can see a license for Xchanger Suite 7. Use the utility to send a Diagnostic Report to HTRI. The information sent to HTRI Technical Support helps us troubleshoot the problem. If all else fails, contact HTRI Technical Support ([email protected]) with the details of the problem, including the exact text of any error messages.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------When starting eLibrary, I see an error message: "Sentinel HASP key not found(H0007)." What do I do? Error H0007 indicates that the program could not find a local or network license. 1. If you use a (black) TimeHASP, make sure that the device is attached and that the red light inside the device is turned on. Try another USB port. 2. If you use a network license from a network license server, see the above section titled "Network (Red NetHASP) Device Users" for instructions to connect to the network license server. 3. If you use a software-based license (SL), run the HTRI License Manager Utility from the Start Menu, and verify that your computer can see a license for Xchanger Suite 7. Use the utility to check for an updated license if one is available. If all else fails, use the License Manager utility to send a Diagnostic Report to HTRI, or contact HTRI Technical Support ([email protected]) with the details of the problem, including the exact text of any error messages.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Whenever I try to open the HTRI secured website, I get error messages indicatingthat the system is not allowing access to the page. How can I get around this? 1. Installation of the HTRI eLibrary program is required to view content on the HTRI Secured Website (http://www.HTRI.net). eLibrary is a separate program but is included with the Xchanger Suite install. 2. HTRI eLibrary 2.0 is designed to work with the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer. It does not work with other browsers such as Firefox or Chrome. 3. If you see an Information Bar or message about an HTRI Addon or ActiveX control, you must click on the message and ALLOW the HTRIWebCx.ocx addon to run.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------When opening documents on the HTRI Website, I see a Certificate Error and then itasks for a Username and Password. How do I view the documents? You probably need to update the Root Certificates in Windows. The Root Certificate Update (KB931125) is available from Microsoft on Windows Update, at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Once the update is installed, you will not need a username or password to download the documents.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Does eLibrary 2.0 work with the latest version of Adobe(R) Acrobat and Adobe Reader? This version of eLibrary does not require Adobe(R) Acrobat or Adobe Reader. It contains its own reader application.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technical Support ===================If you experience difficulty with HTRI eLibrary, please contact Technical Support via emailat [email protected] or by phone at +1.979.690.5055 (Worldwide) or +44 (1483) 685103 (EMEA).==== Heat Transfer Research, Inc.
