***How can I edit a chronicle in the game?***

The si"plest %a& to create &our o%n chronicle is to use one of the e"pt& hu's %e ha$e

included %ith the ga"e (each is 'ased on the single pla&er chronicle 'ut e"pt& of"onsters) *uests and ite"s+ and then populate it using the #tor&teller (#T+ tools. ,ith

the #T tools) &ou can easil& go through the le$el and place ene"ies at &our leisure. nce

&ou ha$e co"pleted &our o%n $ersion of the le$el &ou can sa$e it '& hitting the scape/e& and then clic/ing on sa$e.

***Is there any information about the pre-scripted Chronicles (Leaves of Three or To

Curse the ar!ness"?***

0es) the design docu"ents for these t%o chronicles are a$aila'le off of the

#tart1rogra"s1Va"pire12ede"ption Multipla&er Chronicles. These docu"ents should

The ran/ing of a character (e.g. 3eonate) Methuselah) Antedilu$ian+ is there to gi$e the

character an idea of ho% "an& e4perience points s5he has accu"ulated throughout thega"e. The ran/ing of the character %ill not actuall& affect the Generation of the

character) nor %ill the ran/ing endo% an& special po%ers to the character.

***Can I reconfigure the controls in the game?***

The Faith and 3u"ina Disciplines %ere onl& a$aila'le to hu"an pla&ers in a "ultipla&er

ga"e. 0ou can purchase scrolls %hich %ill allo% &ou to cast the Discipline once) 'ut &ou%ill not 'e a'le to ac*uire an& of these Disciplines in the single pla&er ga"e.

***+hy can,t I sell the weapons to the 'ypsy? +hy can,t I sell potions to the /mithy?***

,eapons can onl& 'e sold to the #"ith&) %hile potions and scrolls can onl& 'e sold to the

G&ps&. The& ha$e no need in 'u&ing ite"s) %hich the& %on7t 'e selling.

***+hy can,t I e0uip a certain piece of armorweapon? +hen I roll my cursor over theweaponarmor$ the name of the item is in red***

If an ite"7s na"e is listed in red) %hen &ou roll &our cursor o$er the ite") then &ou do not

ha$e the "ini"u" attri'utes in order to e*uip the ite". #o if &ou tr& to e*uip the

Quarterstaff) %hich re*uires a "ini"u" strength of 89 to %ield) and &ou onl& ha$e a astrength of 8:) then &ou %ill not 'e a'le to e*uip this. ,hen &ou roll &our cursor o$er

***Can I play as any of the independent Clans or as the /abbat in the game?***

Though V;TM 2ede"ption is pri"aril& focused on the Ca"arilla) &ou "a& also pla& as a

"e"'er of the Gio$anni fa"il& gi$en their recent detente %ith the Ca"arilla. The other

independents and the clans of the #%ord of Caine are not &et a$aila'le.

***+here can I get more information about the pen-and-paper version of 1ampire2 The

***Can I feed on a Coterie member?***

0es) &ou can feed on a Coterie "e"'er. To do so) 6ust select the Feed Discipline and

right-clic/ on the Coterie "e"'er) that &ou %ant to feed on. 2e"e"'er) %hen &ou do

this) that Coterie7s 'lood le$el %ill 'e lo%er and thus the Coterie "e"'er "a& 'eco"e

***+hy do my Coterie members attac! the peasants in the town?***

If &ou lea$e an& of &our Coterie "e"'ers in the ffensi$e stance) the& %ill attac/ an&

peasants or guards that the& see in to%n) since &ou are co""anding the" to see/ out

an&one and attac/ the" at all costs %hen &ou set the" to ffensi$e "ode. To pre$entthis fro" happening) re"e"'er to set &our Coterie to neutral or defensi$e prior to

entering the to%n.

***In the #dvancement screen$ I notice that there are isciplines available to mycharacter$ but when I am playing the game$ these isciplines are not available when I

bring up the iscipline window +hy is that?***

If there are Disciplines a$aila'le to &our character) &ou %ill still need to spend e4perience points in order to ad$ance that Discipline to the le$el of =one dot.= If &ou do not do this)

then &ou %ill ha$e the Discipline a$aila'le 'ut not selecta'le until &ou spend e4perience

points to ad$ance it.

***+hat are the Caitiff? I see them mentioned in the manual but I do not !now who they

are***

The Caitiff are the group of clanless $a"pires that ha$e 'een outcast '& the other

>indred. In V;TM 2ede"ption) &ou can choose to pla& as a Caitiff and ha$e all the

disciplines a$aila'le to &ou) ho%e$er &ou %ill learn the" all at an increased e4periencecost.

***+hy can,t I use the ominate iscipline on certain vampires?***

Do"inate %ill onl& %or/ on $a"pires that are of e*ual or higher generation than thecharacter that is using it. As Christof) &ou are a ?8th generation $a"pires) %hich "eans

that Do"inate %ill not %or/ on $a"pires) %ho are ?@th generation or lo%er. Con$ersl&)

if &ou are a ?:th generation $a"pire) &ou %ill 'e a'le to use &our Do"inate Discipline ona ??th) ?@th) or ?8th generation $a"pire.

Coterie Controls

?. If %ish for &our entire part& to attac/ a pedestrian) &ou %ill need to hold do%n theCT2L /e& as &ou clic/ on &our target. If &ou attac/ a pedestrian) &our coterie %ill

not attac/ the pedestrian unless &ou specificall& direct the" to do so.

@. If &ou clic/ on the 2egroup 'utton) all the part& "e"'ers %ill no% return to the

pla&er and stop an& action that the& %ere doing. This includes if a character isattac/ing or feeding on a pedestrian. o%e$er) after the part& regroups) the AI

controlled "e"'er %ill then react as nor"al (i.e. if the character is in theaggressi$e stance) he %ill attac/ the nearest ene"&+.

8. If &ou CT2L B Left Clic/ on the ground) this %ill cancel all the actions of &our

coterie "e"'ers and the& %ill regroup %ith the leader. nce again) after thecoterie regroups) the& %ill follo% their standard AI actions.

Disciplines

?. Mas/ of ?::: Faces - ,hen used) this Discipline %ill allo% the user to ta/e on the

shape and "anneris"s of its target. eco"ing the target) the user %ill appear asthe target to friends and foes ali/e. o%e$er) as a dra%'ac/) &ou cannot attac/ in

&our ne% for" and "ust %ait until &our Discipline %ears off 'efore &ou can

resu"e &our assault on &our foes.

@. Quell the east - 0ou can onl& use this discipline on others. 0ou cannot use this

Discipline on &ourself.

In$entor&

?. If &ou ha$e the in$entor& pane open and ha$e an o'6ect in &our hand) right clic/

on the In-Ga"e #creen and &our in$entor& %ill 'e auto"aticall& sorted for &ou.

@. If &ou ha$e se$eral li/e ite"s (e.g. se$eral 'ottles of $itae+ and one of these ite"s

Clan ,ea/nesses

The follo%ing Clan %ea/nesses are i"ple"ented in the ga"e in the follo%ing %a&;

Ventrue - a$e a decreased 7'lood rating7) %hich scales ho% "an& 'lood points the& recei$e during a feed.

3osferatu - Ma4 : Appearance.

Gangrel - Increased cost to raise social stats. Chance for fren<& reducesappearance.

Toreador - 2educed resistance to resence po%ers.

(V. The Adaptation o# the en / aper *ame

,hile Va"pire; The Mas*uerade - 2ede"ption is 'ased on the popular ,hite ,olf penand paper ga"e of the sa"e na"e) this $ersion does not atte"pt to i"itate the pen and



paper e4perience) 'ut adapt it to another for"at - the co"puteri<ed one. As a $ideo ga"e)

certain concessions "ust 'e "ade in the adaptation of the pen and paper ga"e) ho%e$er

the spirit of the ,hite ,olf ga"e is ali$e and %ell throughout the $ideo ga"e $ersion.To help the pen and paper pla&er ad6ust to the $ideo ga"e e*ui$alent) %e ha$e listed a

fe% funda"ental adaptations that ha$e 'een "ade to the 'asics of the ga"e.

First of all) %hile the pen and paper ga"e uses a =dot= s&ste" to indicate the po%er le$elof a certain attri'ute (e.g. strength) %its) etc+) V;TM 2ede"ption utili<es a nu"erical

s&ste" (:-+. V;TM 2ede"ption chooses to use a nu"erical 'ased s&ste") since this

%ill allo% a pla&er to see his5her character gro% slo%l& through out the ga"e. Thus)instead of seeing a character 6u"ping fro" one strength le$el to another) the pla&er can

ha$e his character graduall& gro% "ore po%erful as he fights his %a& through the

$a"pire hordes. If a #T %ishes to con$ert this 'ac/ to a dot s&ste") %e reco""enddi$iding the nu"'er '& @: to gi$e an e*ui$alent dot rating. o%e$er) %e ha$e also seen

in testing that #T7s %ill prefer to use a nu"'er such as ?H.9 or ? instead of @: since &ou

can ne$er achie$e a rating of 9 dots %ith the nu"erical s&ste") since the nu"erical rating%ill onl& reach . It is up to the #T to decide on %hich s&ste" s5he prefers) ho%e$er the

#T should notif& the pla&er(s+ prior to initiating a ga"e.

Another "a6or change is that all the Disciplines in the ga"e %ill cost 'lood to use. ,hileso"e Disciplines such as otence and Celerit& are al%a&s turned on in the pen and paper

$ersion of the ga"e) V;TM 2ede"ption %ill re*uire that &our character use 'lood in

order to use all Disciplines. This is done in order to create a 'alance to the ga"e) %hich"a& not 'e there if these Disciplines %ere al%a&s turned on.

Finall&) &ou %ill also notice that a'ilities are not used in the ga"e (e.g. leadership)

su'terfuge) etc+. It is up to the #T7s discretion) if s5he %ill li/e to incorporate a %a& ofusing the a'ilities fro" the pen and paper into the $ideoga"e) 'ut there is no s&ste"

currentl& i"ple"ented %ithin the ga"e. If an #T has a "ethod of incorporating a'ilities)

%hich %ill allo% for a deeper ga"e for the pla&er) please use it and post &our techni*uefor other "e"'ers of the V;TM 2ede"ption co""unit& to learn.

,hile V;TM 2ede"ption is not an e4act reproduction of the pen and paper ga"e) it is a

fun h&'rid of the $ideo ga"e %orld and the pen and paper uni$erse. As a result) it should 'e en6o&ed on this le$el---an adaptation) %hich still contains the soul of the original

ga"e. ,e all loo/ for%ard to the support of the ga"e '& the fans as %ell as the "ods
