FEATURED DOG: Effie is a 1-year-old, 25-pound female mixed-breed dog brought to Canada from Greece earlier this summer. She’s fun-loving, enthusiastic and ready for a long hike or a snuggle, and she loves training games!

Effie needs a quiet, stable home without kids and a family that can accommodate separation issues. This means working through a specific training protocol to help her learn to be comfortable alone and to accommodate her need to not be alone until this training is complete.

Effie is also frightened of new people and will need help to learn how to trust that new people aren’t going to harm her. She therefore needs a home in a low-density area, where she won’t be overwhelmed. A suburban home would he lovely for sweet girl Effie.

Effie likes other dogs and would love to live with a friendly companion. She is currently fostered with a cat but gets too excited when interacting with the cat (and is starting to chase the friendly feline), so we feel that perhaps a home without a cat might be best.

Effie is housetrained, has lots of energy for trail walks and playing, and is crate-trained. Can you give her the active but quiet and safe forever home she deserves?

A friend in need is a friend indeedWithout a doubt, a dog is a real friend. Our dogs come in all shapes and sizes, but they have one thing in common – they all need loving forever homes. Open your heart and your home to a rescue dog. You’ll be glad you did. For complete information about the adoption process, please visit www.speakingofdogs.com/adoption-process. For more information on each dog, simply click on their name.

From: Jan To: Speaking of Dogs Rescue Subject: Preston

Dear Speaking of Dogs Rescue,

Preston is the love of our lives. He has fit in beautifully, and we can’t imagine life without him. It took us a while to get one cat acclimatized, but they are doing fine now. Preston had an issue with barking at men, but we hired a trainer and continue to work on that. He’s doing much better. As I mentioned to Lorraine, the only issue we have is with separation anxiety. Not Preston’s. Ours! We cannot bear to be separated from him. We love him to bits. You all do wonderful work and it is for that reason that we will continue to support Speaking of Dogs in every way we can.
