57 years of Waterside

Holiday Group history

The Jacobs family and Waterside Holiday

Group have been welcoming holiday

makers to Weymouth for 57 years, since

Ralph and Esther Jacobs purchased their

first holiday park in 1963.

This original 10-acre holiday park, now

called Waterside Holiday Park, was

later expanded through the purchase of

neighbouring Prebendal Caravan Park by

Philip Jacobs, the son of Ralph and Esther.

In 1997 the Jacobs family acquired

Neptune’s Bar, an entertainment venue

opposite the Waterside Holiday Park

entrance. This area is now home to the

Waterside Venue, Waterside Takeaway

and the new Southside development.

The next substantial change for the

Waterside Holiday Park was the

introduction of the industry leading

Waterside Spa in 2007; offering spa

experiences, day packages and a

premium range of treatments.

Chesil Vista Holiday Park was the second

park to join the Waterside Holiday

Group, purchased by the Jacobs family

from Haven Holidays in 2001. The park

underwent an extensive redevelopment

and enhancement programme to make

it the five-star experience it is today.

During 2011 Chesil Vista welcomed

brand new facilities and features

including a takeaway, children’s

three-storey indoor soft play area

and a modern glass-fronted reception.

The latest park to join the Waterside Holiday

Group is Osmington Holiday Park, originally

a caravan park, Osmington was purchased

by the group in 2009 and reinvented into

an exclusive lodge retreat to celebrate its

beautiful woodland surroundings.

More recently the Waterside Holiday

Group have opened two brand new

restaurants, offering freshly prepared

food using fantastic local produce and

invested in environmental sustainability

through the introduction of solar panels,

improved recycling schemes, electric

vehicles and much more.

Now owned by the granddaughters of

Ralph and Esther Jacobs; Miranda, Olivia

and Claire, Waterside Holiday Group

continues to invest in the three five-star

parks, ensuring that they remain the

perfect place to stay during any

holiday in Weymouth.
