    February 2009

The month o February provides apromising uture or our church. Planningand decision-making done throughout 2008will begin to be implemented this month. Through our Invent the Future process webegan last year and continue in as a church,

we are building or the uture while ministering enthusiasticallyin the present. How is February providing a promising uture?

Nick Floyd is coming alongside o me asAssociate Pastor-Preaching Assistant orboth o our campuses. Nick has served orthree and one-hal years at PrestonwoodBaptist Church in Dallas. He served initiallyon the main campus, assisting in the SinglesMinistry, and then was called to help begintheir new campus just north o Dallas inProsper. In this ministry, he served as theirMinister o Young Adults, then advanced toserve as their Minister o Adults, as well as leading and acilitatingother ministries in the church. The people o Prestonwood testi yhow God has used Nick over these years as this work was begun

by aith and now touches over 1,000 people in worship weekly.

Nick will serve both campuses, taking the load o o me inseveral ways, and will serve as another communicator to our

ellowship in all areas o ministries. He will become anothervoice as God raises him up in our church. Nick has now receivedhis Master o Divinity degree rom Southwestern Seminary andis presently advancing towards obtaining his Doctor o Ministrydegree rom the Liberty Theological Seminary. It is our goal orhim to obtain this degree no later than the spring o 2010. Atthis time, he only lacks attending three major doctoral seminarsand the work they require, plus doing his major project andwriting his dissertation. He has been away rom our ministry oralmost seven years, fnishing his bachelors degree rom LibertyUniversity and was the leading Pastoral Ministries graduate that

year. He and his lovely wi e, Meredith, and their daughter, ReeseCaroline, will become a great blessing to our entire ministry. Eventhough Nick will serve both campuses, he will o fce during theweek at our Pinnacle Hills location. Do everything you can to givea warm welcome to them. Their frst Sunday will be February 8.

Ryan Blackwell is also coming to serveas our Minister o Young Married Adultsat our Springdale campus. Ryan is one o our best, raised in our ellowship, saved andcalled through our ellowship, leaving hereto achieve with great academic excellenceat both Oklahoma Baptist University and theGolden Gate Baptist Theological Seminarywhere he recently received his Master o Divinity degree. Ryan was the #1 academicgraduate in this past Decembers class. Ryan and his joy ulwi e, Rachel, will be a superb addition to our team. Ryan is achurchman, serving churches while achieving both o his degrees.Again, do everything you can to extend a warm welcome to theBlackwells. Their frst Sunday will be February 15. A little ministrytriviaRyan and Nick grew up together, hung out all the timetogether, were leaders in our Student Ministry together, playedon three state championship ootball teams together, and bothgraduated rom our Shiloh Christian School. We are blessed tohave them back with us.

February 8 will be I Love My Church Day on both campuses.

It is a day where we demonstrate our love or our church in everyway. It is the day we are gathering on our:

Springdale Campus: AS MANY ADULTS AND AS MANYSTUDENTS AS POSSIBLE

Pinnacle Hills Campus: AS MANY ADULTS AS POSSIBLE

There ore, plan, connect, invite, and attend our I Love My ChurchDay on February 8. It will be a abulous Sunday.

February 22 is STUDENT DAY at our Pinnacle Hills campus, ollowing a great regional event on that Friday-Saturday

called Hot Hearts that will be held on that campus. Again, this is a day when the entire Pinnacle Hills campus will work theweek prior in getting as many students as possible in worshipthat morning.

Yes, February is providing us a promising uture. The bestis yet to come.

    5February 2009

Sitting ve rows back, in the center o the church, Jim McGrath,

husband, ather o two, and intensely driven businessman satlistening. He had decided to attend the con erence because he elt

the Holy Spirit had placed in his heart a desire to hear the message

Pastor Ronnie wanted to share with all the men. Little did he know

it would be a message that would orever change his li e.

In 1996, Jim McGrath had been a member o First Baptist Church

o Springdale or a year. And although he and his amily regularly

attended Sunday and Wednesday services, by his own concession,

Jims li e was driven by success o worldly standards. McGrath

explains, My ocus was on me my job and my success. I worked

80 plus hours a week, traveled twothree days a week, and gave my

amily the le tovers. To be candid, I was not a role model or mychildren or the spiritual leader o my home.

But as Jim absorbed Pastor Floyds message that night in 1996, a

desire or change began taking shape in his heart. McGrath recalls,

Pastor challenged all the men who had sinned against the Lord and

their amily to repent. I elt He was speaking just to me. I approached

the altar and wept. I remember eeling orgiveness like I have

    never elt.

That night, Jim returned to his home around 11 p.m. and awoke his

wi e, asking her orgiveness or not being the husband and ather

God called [him] to be. McGrath explains, We cried together, andthe healing started.

Jim McGrath regards the con erence as a turning point in his li e.

It was there that discovering the true meaning o a man helped him

become a man o meaning. Though he admits that li e continues

to pose its share o rustrations and challenges, Pastor Floyds

admonition to keep God rst, amily second, and work thirdcontinues to bring [Jim] back to the Word. And while he is the

rst to con ess he remains a work in progress, McGrath proudly

a rms, My li e is no longer about me. My children have a ather

who is imper ect but seeks the Lord and leans on His strength

not my own. My wi e understands I still ail as a husband, yet

together, we are ocused on the Lord rst.

This February 27th and 28th, Pastor Floyd, along with Dr. Dennis

Swanberg and Nick Floyd, will lead a mens con erence entitled,

Fearless. When asked what advice he would give to men

considering attending the con erence, Jim McGrath was clear.

Men need to understand that the weekend will be li e changing. It will rock you to your core as you hear the passion behind what

our role is to be as men. Men need to come prepared to listen and

learn and to apply the teachings to their li e. All men should attend.

Fathers should bring their sons. Men should bring their riends.

Nothing could be more important than that weekend and hearing

what the Lord has in store or them. Families will be strengthened.

Marriages will begin to heal. Now is the time. We cannot wait.

While men rom all across Northwest Arkansas are invited to attend

Fearless at The Church at Pinnacle Hills, one man is sure to be there.

Perhaps you can nd him ve rows back, in the center o the church,

believing God will once again move power ully in his li e anddesperately wanting to never again be the same.

Jim McGrath and his wi e, Cara, have been married nearly 18 years and

reside in Rogers, Arkansas, with their children, Tiernan (15) and Lauren (13).

n March 29th and 30th, 1996, Pastor Ronnie Floydled a group of nearly 500 men at a conference heldat First Baptist Church of Springdale entitled, TheMeaning of a Man. There, Pastor Floyd challenged the group to discover theirdestiny as spiritual champions with such session topics as You Can Make a Di erenceand

Being an Infuencer. On the rst night o the con erence, Pastor implored all men in

attendance to make certain their li es priorities were in order. 1.) God 2.) Family 3.) Work

Congratulations Jamie Lantzsch, Minister of Children

Congratulations to Jamie Lantzsch or fve years o service as the Minister o Children at

The Church at Pinnacle Hills. Jamies unique heart or children, coupled with his vision, insight, and

innovation, have grown and matured many children in their aith. Jamie challenges our children

weekly to worship God ully, connect in a relationship with Him daily, and serve Him aith ully.

Jamies evangelistic heart is evident in the programs and events that make our childrens ministry

one o the best and most creative in the country. Thank you Jamie, Lisa, and the entire Lantzsch

    Campus CONNECTION

Is a mens movement needed inNorthwest Arkansas? Why?Yes, there is a need or a mens movement. Men needto be challenged so they can discover their identity inChrist, develop deeper riendships with other men, understand Gods calling on their li e, learn spiritualdisciplines that can enrich their relationship with Christ, and learn skills to lead their amilies.

Why should men of the area attend? It will cause each man to consider his role, identity,

riendships, walk with the Lord, involvement in the churchand community, stewards, and priorities. I believe God willmove as men worship together and praise the Lord. Theywill experience closeness to God and other men.

What can men expect at the conference? We know there will be great worship, teaching, andchallenge rom worship with Josh, Kim, and Bradley tostraight talk rom Pastor Floyd and Nick and humor withDennis. What more could you ask or in a weekend!

What do you see God doing throughthe conference? For our Pinnacle Hills campus it will be the launch o Mighty Men. We are praying to engage a large numbero men into mens groups to encourage them and guidethem to support our regular Connection Group Ministrywith their spouses and/or other singles.

I also believe as men look at their priorities, who they arein Christ, their amily, relationships, etc., they will makeadjustments in their lives and will add more balance tobring God glory.
